Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Still nothing on Vic DHHS Twitter. Long wait for a zero and hopefully Day 21

They have not tweeted, but the DHHS Website has been updated today and it shows zero for yesterday's tests. So if that update is accurate then that means zero cases as the daily morning tweet is for tests results of the day prior.

Finally Vic DHHS twitter wait over

0 new cases, 2 active

Edit: second tweet

There is a possible case reported that is under investigation; the initial test result is a weak +ve. Further testing today, inc review by an expert panel. The case may be a false +ve or historic infection. Precautionary public health actions in place as investigations continue

As I mentioned earlier there have been fifteen such instances recently that have all been investigated and have been classified as not being new infections.

Be nice for morale if VIC could get to 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 or at least one day :)

I suspect the two remaining active cases will be the two remaining cases that were in hospital yesterday.

Unfortunately some people can remain positive and in hospital for months. So these cases may linger for some time yet.

EDIT: Yes it is just the two in hospital now.

And now there is a dispute as to whether the virus in SA is as claimed. What is clear is that the media in SA and maybe National are slamming what SA is doing both in the management of the Quarantine Hotels and the decisions they are making. PC Steven's anger at the media yesterday has turned the media against him and they are using their resources to get a lot of stories from experts and from businesses that were thrown into turmoil because the decision was made so quickly and with so little notice. Those who wanted the same spotlight onto SA that Victoria received are getting their wish.

Apparently even the food shops that sell food to health staff at the hospitals has had to close. Just a story I heard. But booze shops can stay open. 🤷‍♀️

Professor Greg Dore, an infectious diseases physician and epidemiologist at the Kirby Institute, labelled the new strain suggestion as “rubbish”.

Can’t comment on the closing of restaurants, but it makes sense *if* it was the new strain they thought it was.

Not sure why police would comment on health issues.

As for the speed of the lockdown... if it is the new super infectious strain... personally I don’t think the lockdown was quick enough! People rushing to leave the state either by road or air seems to defeat the purpose of keeping the virus contained!

I was just very interested to see exactly who would come out of the woodwork to throw bombs like they did on VIC (which did nothing but make the people throwing bombs unpopular anyway...).

The disaster of a press conference yesterday from the police commissioner has certainly put the media offside v him....- if you watched the livestream footage, they keep rolling sound and vision as the 3 amigos scurry out and the mic captures all the reporters comments on him after the conference.... very funny....! Along the lines of 'if you can't take it don't dish it out etc'....

But SA is still getting the white glove service (compared to VIC) from the Feds.....I'm not saying its right or wrong, just interesting to see....

I think you'll find that under the SA laws, it's the police who make the decisions in this sort of 'state of emergency'. I expect the politicians like it that way, as it provides plausible distance from any failed or flawed decision making.

So one of the positive cases associated with the pizza places lied. Funerals and weddings allowed. Private gatherings to 100. Pretty much almost normal. WT? Gyms open Sunday. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Limits on numbers but whoa! What just happened?

Had this person been truthful we would not have gone into lockdown according to Stevens. FFS.

SA Press Conference: Wow contract tracers were lied to by one of the initial cases and they are scrambling to find new contacts...
But we thought everyone told the truth everywhere

At least the restrictions are easing, they must feel they have it all under control because this idiot lied and shut down a whole state!

They said they bought a pizza when infact they worked there.... WOW.....

Lets see if SA can have Xmas with QLD and WA after all!
