I was talking to my ex-work colleague based at Northern Beaches yesterday. She was going to fly to Queensland this Sunday for holiday. I was joking with her to fly yesterday just in case the numbers explode ..... Oh well.

fly yesterday just in case the numbers explode

Even if she had flown yesterday she owuld have to do 14 days self isolation, so if you are confined to a room may as well stay home, as its no holiday to be confined to your hotel room.

Im very glad my upcoming beach stay in first week of Jan is in Byron, so no worry about borders, of course the beach has been washed away so I may not go anyway.

Not mandatory though, it is a request. Only mandatory from today.

Yes. Conservative in many ways but leave open opportunities in other situations. And then there are those states that want 28 days clear.
This was an interesting article written today

But to knowingly go against this directive is the height of selfishness and why everyone has to remain vigilant, too many think rules dont apply to them.
That was my point in an earlier post though. It’s weak wishy washy text - as it stands you aren’t going against the directive (there is none - it’s an ‘update’) and you aren’t breaking any rules.

If that’s the effect they want, put out a new border direction saying so.

Update: All public places in the northern beaches will now close down. This includes playgrounds, skate parks, aquatic centres and outdoor gyms however childcare centres and schools will remain open.

And news.com.au says Tas has added suburbs to its hotspot list as were visited by the Nus Drver and Band member:

Tasmania has declared Sydney’s northern beaches area a high risk zone along with three other suburbs, curtailing travel from those places as NSW's coronavirus cluster grows.

The Northern Beaches Local Government Area has been declared high risk, meaning anyone who has been there is asked by Tasmanian authorities to self-isolate immediately and get in touch with health officials to schedule a COVID-19 test.

The same goes for three premises in the Sydney suburbs of Kirribilli, Peakhurst and Penrith. The venues are the Kirribilli Club on Monday, December 14 from 12pm to 3pm, Gannons Park, Forest Rangers FC, Little Rangers session in Peakhurst on Friday, December 11 from 4.30pm to 5.30pm, and the Penrith RSL club on Sunday, December 13 from 1pm to 6pm.

School term has already finished!

Airport chaos as people flee Sydney

People are rushing to Sydney Airport in a desperate bid to leave the city ahead of Christmas with the threat of more border closures looming.

Long queues have already formed at Sydney Airport, with hundreds making the decision to move their trips forward as new restrictions looking increasingly likely.

Multiple states and territories have already reimposed border restrictions for the northern beaches, with some even requiring all NSW residents to go into mandatory quarantine upon arrival, with more annoucnements expected imminently.

Pictures show people packing the airport as people desperately try to leave the state.

Bus Driver of aircrew = US Strain.

No further cases linked to him.

Avalon Cluster = 28 including Qld case. Likely US Strain. Similar to one traveller but not confirmed to be linked.

NSW venues will be updated in real time and numbers will be updated once per day at about 11am - to avoid confusion

No cases associated with crew driver, likely from US strain.

Avalon - 28 cases
Avalon RSL - 11/12
Avalon Bowlo - 13/12
2 attended both venues

My take - it looks like a 24-48 hour period to becoming infectious. And we might be looking at a Crossroads size outcome.
