If folks get out of quarantine in SYD will they need to do a further 14 days at their domestic destination?
I haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere but SYD are still taking the bulk of international arrivals and almost half of those have domestic destinations elsewhere

I went into this a few months ago and couldn’t get a definite answer, when Dr FM as looking to come home from London. In the end she elected to fly directly into Brisbane to avoid any potential changes. Good decision given what’s happened

Like you I am unsure of the latest rules but a direct quote from McGowan today was -

"One of the things we did back in the start of August was we put all flight crews into a government-controlled hotel," he said.

"We told them you cannot just go into any hotel you like; you need to go into a government-controlled hotel in a single location.

Despite objections from the airlines and crews, Mr McGowan says the State Government did not budge.

"They didn't want to do it. They didn't like the food; they weren't happy with it, but we just said it's happening and you'll be there within two days," he said.
"And that's what happened. They all went into a single hotel and we haven't had any problems with flight crews as a consequence."

Of course being a politician anything he says must be treated with caution. But I have seen it reported elsewhere that aircrew have been forced to stay in a selected hotel when flying into Perth.

Well I eventually found like 3 different WA regulations (I think 2 in August) and all had the same crew hotel definition.

I wonder whether the source (Edit: of the changed practices) was initially their special issues with ship crews....

Perhaps WA did not share this information with other States.....Or was it a case AHPPC dropped the ball (again?)

Are domestic transits through SYD allowed?
I'm waiting on a definitive answer to this as I'm flying regional NSW to Melbourne in the coming week or so.

The ABC coronavirus blog has this post from 2hrs ago as it seems to be an obvious question with no answer yet.

For those asking about transiting through Sydney airport

This has been another very popular question.

We have asked the Victorian DHHS whether Sydney Airport is considered part of the Red Zone, or if people transiting through are exempt.

It would seem very unlikely to me that the other states would have not been aware of what was being done. For a start all politicians I have heard love to talk about "what I have done". Plus I am sure that airlines staff would have spread the 'news' around as well.

However, I am certainly not in a position to be dogmatic about anything so I should only be treated as a interested observer but not in any way an expert.

The Northern Territory has declared Greater Sydney – including the Blue Mountains, Illawarraand the Central Coast — a coronavirus hotspot effective immediately.

The declaration means anybody arriving from those locations will have to undertake a fortnight of supervised quarantine at a cost of $2,500.

130 passengers on a flight from Sydney about to touch down in Darwin have been given the option of returning to Sydney or entering quarantine for free.

WGA-SYD-ADL
My understanding is that we would only be required to be tested on arrival in ADL which just means I can’t work on Tuesday until results come back
This is all I could find

its not yet updated for today’s announcement.

your issues:

- it doesn’t contain any exemption/exclusion for transit.
- wollongong might be caught up as part of Greater sydney when definitions come out
- sa didn’t provide exemption/exclusion for transits previously I believe.

I’d be coming from Wagga not Wollongong

Not sure where to put this info tip but has been annoying us that one has to fill out all the details after scanning a QR Code every time. But there’s a way to auto fill!

Yes, I find the form-filling annoying , so usually do the manual option if available. The Tas Govt has released its 'Check in Tas' app where you open an account, filling in phone and e-mail. Then, if the venue has a Check in Tas QR code, when you scan it, it auto populates the fields. The venue never sees the details.

To be honest NSW has done the heavy load of accepting overseas arrivals this year, and as such, taking the most risk of covid spread.

Other states have too good for too long and should take these burdens, instead of trumpeting how good they are on keeping covid free.
Thats just sounds like bitterness...

That was my concern last Friday with nephew being released from overseas quarantine. He was sweating on it. He made it in ok. And I’d say maybe yes they would.

Same as in SA. Easy. And a nice audible ping.

SA was one of the few states who didn’t allow transits. Eventually Sydney was cleared as a transit but late August?
