Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

So will NSW include this in their figures? Good that they were tested and hopefully the only one.
I think the usual protocol is for the State that took the test to keep the reporting responsibility but that the information about the case (ie contact tracing information) to be shared with the national database (if that is up and running now).

We do the heavy lifting on international arrivals we aren’t going to take on statistics for the other states.
But we already do! All the international arrivals that land in Sydney that test positive are included in NSW stats even if they are residents of other states.

'Completely and utterly inconsiderate'

Shoalhaven Council on the New South Wales South Coast has reported a COVID breach to police.

A leisure centre at Ulladulla is closed for cleaning after a resident from Sydney's Northern Beaches went to the venue.

Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley says the person was staying in the region before the Northern Beaches lockdown, but should have been self-isolating.

"We've had a visitor from the Northern Beaches who was supposed to be quarantining wherever they were — they didn't have to return home but stay indoors and not interact with the public but you know, this person has been completely and utterly inconsiderate."

In quarantine already it’s been reported thank goodness for Victorians.
——

Victoria has recorded three new cases of COVID-19 within quarantine; one from interstate and two from overseas.

The arrival from interstate is a returned Victorian traveller who caught the virus on Sydney's northern beaches, the Department of Health and Human Services said.

"Close contacts are currently understood to be limited, with contact tracing underway and further investigations ongoing," the department advised in a tweet.

"At this stage there are no exposure sites”

Just didn’t want them to get counted twice given everyone’s twitchiness.

So a 15 year old positive case with mother with northern beaches connections.

Came in by car.

Entered from hotzone without permission and so were compulsorily placed into quarantine. (EDIT This was actually other travellers)

So will Vic's Border policy still be ridiculed by some from in NSW?

Also what happened to the hotzone being in lockdown? Is it that easy that people can leave it?

Seems like the Victorian health minister has confirmed the person returned from NSW and has been self-isolating since they arrived. Well done to that person.

He said that they were compulsorily placed into quarantine as they did not have the appropriate permissions to enter the state.

That's not what The Age reports.

A new positive case in Victoria linked to the Sydney northern beaches cluster has been identified as a young person from Melbourne's Moonee Valley local government area.
"The young person travelled home from Sydney with their parent," Victoria's Health Minister Martin Foley said. "They have isolated when they returned to Victoria and as a result of the awareness of the situation in Sydney, the young person has sought testing."
Mr Foley said all close contacts of the family have been interviewed and the Department of Health is following up with any secondary close contacts, with rapid response testing underway.
"Given the family were isolating at home, at this point, there are no known exposure sites in Victoria," he said.
The Moonee Valley case was one of three positive cases in Victoria today

If you mean are there roadblocks around the Northern Beaches, no there aren't. People (who havent been to a site requiring 14 day isolation ) are still allowed out to work.
You would only need to block 3 roads if you needed to, given the geography

7 news running with 8 new cases in NSW.
That would be a fantastic outcome

And hopefully the other states like QLD, SA, TAS, WA etc have been rigorously following up and testing all other travellers as well to make sure it has seeded further.

I worry about the states capability apart from VIC and NSW in handling this.

I think you are getting them mixed up.

He was talking about the other 17 that Victoria intercepted and placed into hotel quarantine.

Thank you. I only heard the latter part of the presser and yes thought those answers were also about this case..

Re-watched now:

In question time he indicated:
They drove home. Had family in Northern Beaches and had been at multiple exposure sites in Northern Beaches.
Returned with Mother.

Isolated at home due to news. Then later sought testing.
Returned on 18th. Sought testing on 20th. Positive test result on 21st. Other family members so far are negative.

No exposure sites in Vic if family have been accurate. They did stop in Gundagai NSW though.

Confirmed by Gladys. 7 lined to the Northern Beaches Cluster though.
So a good result.

1 is also a local case (not part of Northern Beaches Cluster). Health care worker involved in transport of patients in quarantine. Case under investigation.

So 8 local community cases.
