SA Health can't keep its website up to date, so I'm confused. Is this right? (for ordinary mortals, not tennis players, celebrities, exempt workers etc):

- you can't enter SA from Vic (and if you do get special permission to enter, it's 14 days in quarantine)
- if you enter SA from the Perth area you have to get a test and isolate until you get a negative result and then have 2 more tests on day 5 and day 12 (even though WA only had 1 case??)
- if you enter SA from the Sydney area you have to get a test, isolate till negative, then 2 more tests on day 5 and day 12.

I’m not keep close watch, but that sounds about right.

Too soon to establish the cause.

Hmmm I think a congregation of vehicles on a border crossing area established 2 hours earlier is more than likely because of... I don’t know, a border crossing set up 2 hours earlier..

We will see and if this is the case this is just as bad as the days when the QLD border restrictions killed children denied medical services on the NSW/QLD border.

SA CHO fronted up on radio this AM and got flayed alive for her part in the border decision making.

I feel the attitudes towards these snap border closures have really changed now in the general population, people have run out of patience...

Also - My goodness she is such a poor speaker could barely stutter out a sentence with out a ummm/errrr/stumble and I honestly got the distinct and odd feeling she wasn’t really behind this closure... I don’t know enough about the SA emergency settings to know who is really ruling the roost there....?
Funny I was just looking at the various FB for these three and was thinking exactly the same thing. She was definitely behind the decision to allow the French bod to quarantine at a private residence but the border thing, Im looking at the Police Commissioner.
We have the Fringe and WTA in next couple of weeks and this will kill both.

Police Commissioner did use economy to partially justify giving an exemption to French submarine CEO to have home quarantine

Most of that seems right except it’s only Greater Melbourne that can’t enter. Rest of Victoria is free to enter

One of the trucks is ours but no further details but I don’t believe he was the fatality.
16 other semis of ours impacted by the closure so a stack of freight delays

Well yes because that was what is was called when it was built. Come on, Nicola won't stand for such a boring name.

She'll also ensure there is a big song and dance about it with a media heavy renaming ceremony!

It's quite hard to actually know. The Police Commissioner has final say as the state emergency coordinator (or whatever the exact title is) but he continually comments that he takes final advice from SA Health. But then rewind the clock back to November and our debacle lockdown, and he was pretty quick to flip on that decision. I'd be very surprised to hear that the CHO and SA Health didn't have any influence in the pushing for the changes.

On a side note - given the usual jumpiness out of QLD, any news from Anna and friends yet? I can't help but feel we've taken the second place mantle behind WA now....

And to the person who mentioned nebulisers - now banned in SA medi hotels. I'd imagine if you need one you'll end up in a more medical based setting, whether that be the specific medical hotel rather than general hotel quarantine.

I did hear that three trucks involved. Two were stationary lined up waiting on the border queue at 2am and the third truck clipped the second truck. 😔

Well, if he had used Security I could understand that, but economy? makes no sense.
The full media report mentions security and then a side mention of economy

SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens told news.com.au in a statement that SA Health’s exemptions committee approved Mr Pommellet’s application to quarantine in a separate location “on the basis of security grounds”.

Mr Stevens said the application was subject to his team’s assessment “in relation to being able to provide a secure environment” and was based on “the placement of dedicated resources there” so it could be safely managed.

“We are satisfied that the security requirements were legitimate and warranted an exemption under those circumstances and it was on that basis that it was approved,” said the statement.

“It wasn’t a decision that was taken lightly given the resource implications that arise from that but my understanding is the economic benefit to South Australia from facilitating this particular arrangement is certainly worth the small sacrifice we are making to make sure it’s safe for the local community.”

Mr Stevens said there were police personnel on site 24 hours, seven days a week and “additional security arrangements have been built into the premises to ensure compliance with all of the requirements that were stipulated by SA Health in order to allow that exemption to occur.”

One would hope they had placed portable speed change signs in place to allow for the congestion instead of coming up on a traffic jam at full speed in the middle of the night.

Given this chap is in charge of constructing the next $89 Billion worth of Australian submarines, I don't really see what the issue is.
If he were a government employee or defence member it'd barely rate a mention.

Edit - found the actual new submarines project value 🤑😱

Surely it is easier to provide security for an individual in HQ as already have a combination of ADF, Police and Security guards on-site than to have to put in place extra resources at a non government controlled premises?

Sounds like a weak excuse for granting special privilege to rich people.

Seriously doubt anyone except those directly working on the project would even know who he is, not exactly a well known face.

Probably just needs a body guard for his ego and then only once released from HQ.

Was nice to hear that Kylie Minogue did standard HQ on her recent arrival not special arrangements like her sister got.

I think you'll find the security doesn't just relate to physical protection in this instance, it would be principally in relation to the sensitive intelligence side of things, or a phrase they love to trot out "matters of national security."
