SA imposing a hard border closure on Greater Brisbane from 4pm
Our CHO (or CMO - I forget) has announced immense pleasure at slamming the borders closed to Greater Brisbane... because relevance deprivation syndrome is real! 😂

And so it came to pass. “Brisbane”, Logan, Morton Bay, Ipswich and Redlands declared red zones and mandatory quarantine if you come back to Tas from those places.

To be honest, for some reason I feel more concerned about this outbreak than others, even though it’s probably going to mess with a trip to QLD I had booked. I think if it got into Tas, we are far too complacent to get it controlled quickly.
I felt the same way about the last outbreak in Brisbane after they announced it was the UK strain again. Chances are I likely felt the same about the one before that. Not sure if I want to be proven wrong or right about this one but I feel its just another over reaction again. Now if NSW where to announce a hard border for the north than I would change my view.

Tasmania has an election in the offing. It's now an established political fact that going hard on borders is the correct move in this situation. The more heavy handed the better. A strong resolute leader, keeping Tasmanians safe!
So I wonder how would NSW go if there was an election considering we don't close borders.

Yes, definitely needed for Tassie. But who?

Feeling down again today, this just drains you. Booking Singapore for a fortnight late March on QFF, just waiting for availability, they should open up for bookings before end of April (crossed fingers).

Don't want Singapore for 2 weeks, but stepping off platform to Asia. Watched Youtude videos of current situation tourism places like Bali & Luang Prabang and both depressing. Want to help and support these places, but do you do it as soon as borders open? Or do you do city stays like Phnom Penh, KL or Saigon where not really an issue? Make next trip (may be shortly after first) to give tourist towns time to ramp up a bit, acknowledging they need the funds sooner than anyone.

Well hopefully other states only declare Northern Rivers LGA a red zone / hotspot and not all of NSW. I need to go to ACT in 3 weeks time and dont want to be locked out because Queensland failed to properly trace all contacts from the event where the Doctor was exposed a couple of weeks ago.

I was in the office early this morning for 90 mins for a board meeting then had to come home as had a plumber coming. Am now hoping not to get caught up in any nonsense as we had a new starter today from Brisbane who flew in last night, she is relocating to Sydney at end of April and was here to meet the team and collect laptop etc. I only saw APs announcement after my meeting (about 10:15am), our new employee completed the airport declaration on arrival last night (so NSW knows she is here) and hasn't been to any of the affected venues in Brisbane, but made boss send her for a test and told her to work from the hotel until NSW clarify if anything further is required.

According to ABC blog:

NSW isn't announcing any border changes

NSW Health is happy with the measures has taken so far - no further restrictions will be introduced at this stage.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian says she "will follow the health advice rather than the advice of my political colleagues", when asked why she wasn't following the Queensland Premier's recommendation to declare greater Brisbane a hotspot.

"Already NSW has put in place strict precautions on people coming back through the airport ... in the main, I'm confident that what we've put in place will allow us to keep on top of any cases in NSW."

That said, she is recommending people reconsider any travel plans to Queensland.

Love that dig! Basically only if you have been to any of the venues at the times the infected people were there (including the 2 in Byron Bay) you have to test and isolate.

And WA raises the risk for Qld further:

Western Australians shuts the door on Queensland

WA will reintroduce a hard border for travel from Queensland from midnight tonight.

Premier Mark McGowan says Queensland will transition from ‘low risk’ to a ‘medium risk’ jurisdiction under the state’s controlled interstate border regime.

The changes mean travel from Queensland will no longer be permitted, unless you are an exempt traveller.

Vic is as you are at this stage.
They are angling for the AFL to be hubbed there and I noticed that Brisbane will stay in Melbourne this week and play a “home” game down there.
We saw that coming as soon as they were held back. Another "in an abundance of caution" thing. Collingwood get to play at "home" or rather, not travel, in a blockbuster game.

Well we can't take the risk of having another lame AFL final so better its hubbed in VIC!

Rumours on the radio more cases have been found in QLD, but its a cough commercial radio station so not paying much attention.

According to ABC News Covid Blog:

NSW just upped its guidance:

UPDATE: NSW returnees must comply with Brisbane's stay at home restrictions

NSW Health has just released a statement confirming that anyone who's in NSW who has been in Greater Brisbane since March 20 must comply with Brisbane's lockdown rules regardless of where they are now.

That means if you're in NSW but have been in Brisbane since March 20, you can only leave home for the four essential reasons.

As did the NT:

NT Government declares several hotspots in Greater Brisbane, mandatory quarantine is back

The Northern Territory Government has declared several regions in Brisbane hotspots with all travellers to the Territory from these areas to be required to go into mandatory supervised quarantine.

Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Moreton, Toowoomba and Brisbane council areas will go into lockdown from 5pm this evening, and will be declared hotspots in the Territory from 4:30pm today.

NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner is in isolation and getting tested as a precautionary measure, after he had family visit from Toowoomba which has been declared an isolate and test area.

From ABC News Covid blog, more Byron Bay exposure sites added:

NSW Health says anyone who has been to these venues must immediately get tested, self-isolate and remain in isolation until further advice is provided:
  • Byron Beach Hotel (Friday March 26, 2021 7pm – 9pm)
  • Suffolk Beachfront Holiday Park – women’s communal toilets (Friday March 26, 6pm – 6:30pm and 9:10pm – 9:30pm + Saturday March 27, 3:20pm – 3:50pm)
  • Mokha Café (Saturday March 27, 10:30am-11:30am)
  • The Farm Byron Bay (Sunday March 28, 8:45am – 10:30am)

And anyone who's been at these venues needs to immediately self-isolate, get tested regardless of symptoms and stay in isolation until a negative result is received:
  • Ghanda Clothing (Saturday March 27, 12:00pm -12:15pm)
  • Tiger Lily (Saturday March 27, 12:25pm –12:30pm)
  • Black Sheep (Saturday March 27, 12:30pm – 12:40pm)
  • Quiksilver (Saturday March 27, 12:40pm - 12:45pm)
  • Suffolk Bakery (Saturday March 27, 2:45pm – 3:15pm)
  • Park Hotel Bottle Shop (Saturday March 27, 7:30pm-7:45pm)
