‘Party’ man breaks his silence ...

Lockdowns seem to be the go to move for governments with big whoopsies to hide (SA, QLD....) 😂

You cut off the next line though! Here:

However Queenslanders are not confident that the QLD CHO, QLD Health or the QLD Gov know anything about how to stop COVID outbreaks

Well there you go, another pathetic business assassination due to government incompetence.

I said a few days ago there was no hope - sadly, I've just been proven right.

My sincere condolences to anyone who is caught up in this from a business or personal perspective. Many holidays well be cancelled now for sure.

Oh and by the way, wouldn't expect it to be long until Victoria makes the Brisbane area a red zone.

How pathetic

Anna is already encouraging other states to declare it a hotspot also.
2 of the cases apparently were in Byron Bay whilst infectious so let’s see what happens now
Oh great.

Perfect opportunity for premiers to close their states off to the nation again. Holiday at home at Easter, they'll say.

I want my freedom, but that's somewhere down the bottom of the list. Perhaps just below "govern competently and confidently"

I think NSW’s past practice is to make interstate lockdown rules apply to people who came from the lockdown zone on those dates.

Deflect deflect deflect.

Who are we (QLD) to tell any state what to do, seriously?

We probably are up there with WA as being the weakest link in Australia in terms of COVID management.

But yes I'm sure we will now see an interstate pile on agreeing with the recommendation, based on what medical advice is very grey and dubious, as always in QLD...

Especially when I heard AJ say this morning that in January alone QF cancelled 1500 flights to QLD. Easter and school holidays are normally cream for tourism but you would think that’s not going to happen now

Courtesy of the ABC Live Blog, the other premiers are now spooling up their own restrictions on those in QLD

Tasmania has classified five local government areas in Queensland as high-risk, effective immediately.
Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein says anyone travelling to the state from Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay, Ipswich and Redlands will not be permitted to enter without quarantining for up to two weeks.
Until now, Tasmania has managed Queensland on a hotspot basis.

That's the Easter holidays over for tourism businesses. No job keeper to fall back on now. But I guess this will (as usual) be all the fault of the Federal government

At least NSW has mandatory QR code check in for hospitality, right? Waiting for SMS surge...

Four new cases of coronavirus were revealed in Queensland on Monday, including two who travelled to Byron Bay for three days while infectious.

NSW is now on alert after the two people crossed the border during their infectious period, as health officials race to contact 20,000 people who recently arrived in NSW from the sunny state.

The pair attended two popular venues in Byron Bay.

Anyone who was at the Byron Beach Hotel on Friday March 26 between 7.15pm and 8.30pm or The Farm Byron Bay on Sunday March 28 between 8am and 9.30am have been urged to isolate and get tested until more advice becomes available.

There are two new pop-up testing clinics in Byron and people are being urged to get tested.

Earlier on Monday Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she would be making a phone call to the NSW health minister Brad Hazzard to discuss the two people who travelled to popular holiday spot.

“We have to act swiftly, ”she said.

Places in Gladstone now being listed by the QLD government as venues of interest for contact tracers. Grab the popcorn folks.

Actually this is completely and utterly the QLD Gov / QLD CHO's fault.

If they had closed out the hospital outbreak properly with a full third ring containment like VIC do, this would have had a much better chance of being suppressed. Our contract tracing approach up here is too light.

Yes I'm aware that approach would have inconvenienced more people - but now look where we are. Easter / school hols ruined / severely impacted for hundreds of thousands of people. And for businesses - tough luck, jobkeeper is ancient history in a few hours time.

States should send the invoices for lost income directly to QLD.

Another invoice for Qld not to pay, really?!?!

Where’s Scomo? Where’s the vax? 🤔. Slowly, slowly.
Gosh haven’t you noticed? Phase 1a is rolling out, phase 1B has commenced and AFFers have reported getting their vaccine or an appointment for one. Including me.

You may or may not have heard about the European Union stopping exports of vaccine, including to Australia.

And local production on the vaccine is well underway after the production line was built, production commenced and federal testing recently approved it and distribution is just about to start.
