Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I’m wondering if the called the brother and asked how many contacts and they said 25 how many people did you have on Friday 5 so they rang back to get all the names and say there was 5, it’s like WA reporting NSW looking for 20,000 Qld recently arrived in nSW by air, why are they wasting everyone’s time and saying 20,000 people to be tracked down.

And, umm, the players from Brisbane? Interesting dilemma.
Jason, Jason, Jason! (Jimmy Rees reference - check out his hilarious video series "meanwhile in Australia" on You Tube latest episode here - "If there's one case of Corona, I'm shutting the border McGowan" has not disappointed). Football players are essential workers and are obviously unable to catch or transmit the virus like ordinary people.

The irony of the Queensland approach. When NSW couldn’t meet the arbitrary 48 hour deadline of direct linking, the “border clock” used to reset. Genomics weren’t enough for Jeanette Young, she wanted a direct link or else it was a Mystery Case...

In 2021 it’s all magically ok somehow.

Police are now investigating QLD Health and the QLD CHO’s team as to how the ‘fake news’ came about and was spread by them....

SA - Pizzagate and sloppy border controls killing a truck driver
QLD - D grade contact tracing and ‘lying’? QLD health staff?

Could not make this stuff up!

News.com.au understands the mix-up occurred after Queensland Health officials went to visit the man at his home on Saturday morning to inform him of his positive result and begin the contact-tracing process.

During the conversation, the man mentioned to the officials that he recently hosted a party with 25 people – a claim that would naturally trigger alarm for contact tracers.

Perhaps due to crossed wires concerning incubation periods for the virus, the officials mistakenly believed he was referring to the previous evening.

It’s also understood the confusion was not helped by the fact the man had been placed into personal protective equipment, which can be a barrier to communication.

Wires were further crossed between Queensland Health and Queensland Police on Saturday, leading to the incorrect claim that the attendees of the “party” had all been placed in quarantine.

After the walk-back, some observers naturally questioned who these mysterious quarantined individuals were.

Had 25 unsuspecting people been snatched off the street at random by hazmat-suit wearing health officials?

It’s understood that police, who are responsible for quarantine duties, informed their health counterparts that the five people had been placed in quarantine.

In something of a game of telephone, the number “five” appears to have fallen by the wayside during the back-and-forth communications, and as the information went up the chain.

Instead, Queensland Health was left with the understanding that everyone who was present at the “party” had been quarantined.

Some time overnight, they realised their mistake.

I didn’t agree with the border controls but I guess we have to wait until the inquiry into the death has been completed. There is plenty of information not in the public domain and it could be some time before the outcome is known

Don’t think it really matters, I’m sure they will find some excuse to save the SA Police Commissioner’s actions and it won’t change the end impact on the victims family now will it....Nothing is as important as preventing the spread of COVID, there were hundreds of mystery cases of COVID in Melbourne at the time.... cough whoops actually zero but that’s cool.

QLD Health has been very busily covering itself after its own PR disaster. I wonder if the QLD CHO will apologise today.... didn’t seem in the mood yesterday!?!

It now appears they didn’t listen properly, didn’t double check facts, raced breathlessly to a press conference, slandered the person infected with the virus on national media then went back and checked and whoopsies....

This is on top of them failing in contact tracing in the first place of course, unable to close out third, second or even first ring containment from ONE case. ONE. Seriously.

If I was this guy I would be demanding a public apology from the QLD CHO and Premier and probably for fun would be tapping my legal friends to write some scary letters.

But I think until the investigation is completed, given jase05 likely is privy to a lot more info than is in the public domain, we need to wait.

Oh dear lol perhaps it’s time to revive the Footballers holiday in QLD thread!

QLD stands ready to assist! Oh wait we have the outbreak this time 😂

As laughable as the incompetence is, its not slander because the guy hasnt been named nor had his photo spread all over the media. He is just brother of landscape guy, im sure lots of landscapers in South east Queensland have brothers.

From ABC:

ACT Health has identified two close contacts and 11 casual contacts from the latest Queensland COVID-19 cluster.

More than 800 people in Canberra have completed the self-declaration letting health authorities know they've been in greater Brisbane on or after March the 11th.

Meanwhile, in NSW, nine close contacts have been identified and told to isolate for 14 days regardless of their test result. Twenty-thousand people who entered NSW from Queensland are being told to get tested and isolate.

The same applies to Pizza Guy in SA. No details were released about him except he was a Spanish National here on a student visa. But his claim is that he was defamed and has been vilified but it’s not like anyone knows who he is unless he’s told them.

Initial details so far of the four new cases

Queensland has recorded 10 new cases of COVID-19 overnight, including four locally acquired infections.

Two are known contacts of previous cases and two are under investigation. All of the new cases have been confirmed as the “highly infectious” mutant UK strain of the virus, prompting a snap three-day lockdown for Greater Brisbane.

“That lockdown will be for greater Brisbane, which is Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay, Ipswich and Redlands and will commence at 5:00pm this afternoon,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said
