Clive Palmer would be even more unbearable than he is now.
In the scenario where such closures are found to be against the constitution, I find it very sad you would find someone on the right side of that argument and checking government overreach to be unbearable.

As of Friday no requirement for quarantine or a Covid test in SA if transiting through SYD or CBR from TAS, QLD, NT, WA

The scars of the second wave ripple out. My youngest daughter(Uni student, but who works 5 days per week part-time) was just venting a little during her lunchbreak.

She had a very agitated customer this morning who was just not dealing with life at all well at present, including that his wife is in deep depression as she was a worker in an aged care facility where most of the residents that she cared for have died, and she is very traumatised by this experience.

I'm puzzled that Andrew Crisp, the Emergency Services Commissioner hasn't poked his head up since this all began; in fact since the bushfires when he was all over the tv like a cheap suit. I've only heard his name mentioned once, that was by Dan a week or more ago. Maybe like they were preparing to throw him under the bus?

Not in reference to any specific post, but I can’t help wondering how people coped during the Spanish Flu.

Maybe, they were able to live life as normal until near the end of their lives if they became ill. No TV/entertainment issues, no stress, no separation from family/friends/work mates.

I think that generation was much hardier than what we are today.

Certainly true in my case. No business class in those days!

But this court action has been brought about by spite. Clive was too full of self-importance to provide authorities with information relating to his trip. So, just about trying to get even with the WA Premier. So, maybe I could find that “very sad”. 😉

Spite or otherwise, he is one of few with the financial clout to fight court battles of this nature.

The upholding of the constitution is an absolutely critical and fundamental pillar of our nation. It really shouldn't matter who does what against who in court - but the principles being fought quite literally define the freedoms, safety and service provided to us by our governments as citizens of the Commonwealth.

So, that is why Clive took it to court? 😉

I recall he took it to court because the WA government required a list of intended movements and close contacts.

Now whether it was politically or selfishly motivated to take it to court or not I don't know, but it is fact that someone in WA already need not provide such information to the government.

Yes. DYKWIA sorta stuff. Not exactly state-secrets. Some simple questions about travel in WA, asked to all who wish to enter in these COVID times.

Either way the federal court has thrown it out today. Guess he will try his luck at the high court next.

I don't think the federal court 'threw it out'. They were ruling on the facts of the case. The high court gets to decide how the constitution applies to those facts.
