Broken Hill woman - covid positive now being treated in Adelaide hospital - ABC
Interesting. I did not know that the NSW App had a checkout function and so I never used it and have never been prompted to do so.Incorrect, the Service NSW app has check out functionality, and if you forget to check out it prompts you to do so (unless you have already checked in at next venue). Checking out is best way to ensure you don't end up a false close contact.
It'll certainly give pause for people when they are making decisions about where they live and work, and will try to keep them on the same side of a line drawn in the 19th century.IMHO the state border closures and in particular locking out of a state's own citizens will leave a lasting scar on this nation.

Yes. We used it last April and was impressed. It’s been a bug bear of mine in SA that you can’t prove you’ve left the premises before a potential spreader came into the building and in SA case that contact means immediate testing and potentially 14 days quarantine. Sometimes even in a med hotel.Interesting. I did not know that the NSW App had a checkout function and so I never used it and have never been prompted to do so.

My apps are all up to date thank you. Maybe the app is flawed. (There wouldn't be too many surprises there IMHO)The prompt feature is fairly recent, you may need to update your app. Or maybe it only prompts you if you are someone whom checks out regularly on the rare occasion you forget.
Check out feature ii on the recent tab, and it has been there for at least 6 months.
Maybe the app is flawed.
As someone who uses the NSW app infrequently I take what I see when it appears as it is not unreasonable to expect that the app works when needed. It has intrinsic weaknesses such as needing a verification code as that's not always possible. eg use the app with wifi but have no phone coverage.Or maybe user error if you cant locate the feature, which others have been using for months.
Ive been prompted to check out twice when i have forgotten (i.e next time ive opened the app), but am someone who has been diligently checking out since the feature was introduced. If someone never bothers to check out, it obviously assumes that person can't be bothered so doesnt prompt.
Also if you have notifications turned off for the app in your phone settings you also wouodnt get prompted.
Any Ro greater than 1 is out of control, especially considering the level of restrictions apparently in place. Ro of 6 is seriously out of control. It is certainly not out of control.
The R0 for Delta is between 5-8, but NSW has the R eff at 1.3
If you want to see out of control, the ~800>~1050 jump we saw would have been ~800 > ~5000.

Not sure that's actually the way it works. The DONE is just there to confirm that you have completed the check in, not that you have checked out.The QLD app is a little unclear but does actually have a check out ability. When you checkin a button appears at the bottom with the word DONE.click on that when you leave and the episode goes to history.
If you are in a vehicle rolling down an endless hill and the speed continues to increase, regardless of everything you do to control it, you're out of control. No, literally the difference between R eff and R0 is control measures like public health orders and vaccination.
It's growing, I think that's the phrase you are looking for. But it's under control.

If every 10 people who have the virus give it to 11 people, the numbers will continue to grow exponentially.
Same with the ACT app. No check out. I would like a check out option. However, when I am in NSW, I do sometimes forget to check out, so I like the recently added option to set a reminder to check out. Perhaps that's why @straitman didn't get a reminder - because you have to choose that as an option somewhere in settings?Yes. We used it last April and was impressed. Yes. The QLD app has the same history. My understanding is that the contract tracers just want to know the date and time you checked in. This makes it much simpler. If you are contacted by the tracers then they may ask when you left maybe?Oh ACT app has that too - but I didn't realise that it was a check out, I thought it just meant the check in was complete like @TheRealTMA. But I just looked at my app and as you say @drron , the check in moves to history when you click done. But it only shows the check in time in the history, no mention at all of when the check out took place. I suppose there might be some fancy code that we don't see that shows checkout time, but it seems like it's less clear than the NSW app about when you actually left the premises. I also noticed for the first time that the three dots button allows you to delete a check in from the history - could be useful if you go places you want to keep private for whatever reason, although of course the authorities would know you had been there from the records of wherever you checked in.
from my history, I am pretty boring and pretty compliant.

Yes, but TBH I probably wouldn't remember, even with so few outings these days. I guess credit card processing records of when you paid could help here. But today, I went into Coles to buy something specific - it was out of stock, so I left and did not pay for anything, so no credit card prompt. Anyway, no system is perfect. Even with the NSW one, if you forget to check out, the estimate you make later or the prompt is still not 100% accurate, just a ball park. Which could be VERY annoying if that sees you labelled as a close contact.Yes. The QLD app has the same history.
