Australian state border restrictions

Your analogy doesn't work, yes the virus continues to grow, yes it is under control, yes we'd all like the virus to stop growing.

I'm not going to comment any further because this is going nowhere.
Fair enough. The point is a simple one. If it were under control, daily numbers would not steadily increase and outbreaks in regional areas would not be happening.
Looking at recent figures, it is looking more promising that they might, just might, be gaining some ground. That second integral might be heading in the right direction.

As a collective we need to understand and appreciate what "in control" really means. It is a relative term.

But then we wouldn't be able to split hairs about the difference between controlling something and tentatively coaxing it in approximately the direction you'd like it to go.... :(

Apparently NSW is now considering giving ground (temporarily) to QLD…

Berejiklian says Qld-NSW border issue Palaszczuk’s responsibility

Annastacia Palaszczuk said discussions are underway to temporarily move the Queensland-NSW border bubble south in a bid to free tens of thousands of residents stranded by strict travel restrictions.

The Queensland Premier has repeatedly blamed her NSW counterpart for last week rejecting attempts to shift the border checkpoint to the Tweed River amid heavy restrictions on interstate movement.

On Friday, the Queensland government revealed it was approached by its counterpart in the south with a “change of heart”.

Ms Palaszczuk told reporters the shift in attitude was “really interesting to see” but declared “we’re happy to talk to them about it”.

“We’ve been very forward in putting forward our option, so let’s see what happens,” she said.

They’re also benevolently donating masks to NSW… don’t know if NSW needs them? If we are still chasing PPE in August 2021 something has gone wrong,

I’m not aware of any mask shortages in NSW.
Had my annual fit test done earlier this month.

It makes the situation in NSW seem more alarming to those in WA. Call me cynical but I don't think NSW need it either - if they did, that's what the federal stockpile is for.

No Premier should ever cede border territory without consulting the electorate. Even then who knows how that could work constitutionally.

Yes which will be interesting to see if it happens, apparently they are working on the ‘how’…. I’m not sure how it would really… by the time they worked it out we will probably be at 80% double dose!

That’s what I thought. I’m entirely sure that NSW can procure whatever it needs on the open market given that production of PPE ramped up worldwide over 2020.

The offer should be publicly refused by NSW Health if not required, if nothing else to keep confidence in the NSW health response.

Murphy’s Law - as soon as you give something away you’ll need it yourself 😷
