Australian state border restrictions

Probably to protect the indigenous populations of the Pilbara and Kimberley. Vaccination rates are very low there.
Whic is simlar to what they're thinking of for the NT. And knowing what conditions are like on the ground in those areas, that's a reasonable thing to do. Mind you, when I lived in the Kimberly, we liked to think we could stop those 'Perth' people coming up north to spoil things.

As has also been discussed extensively, it looks like WA will be holding onto a few restrictions for travellers, with no indication they are temporary measures:
  • Full vaccinations as a condition for interstate travel (international unvaxxed must quarantine)
  • Negative tests both 72hrs before entry and 48hrs after entry
  • Must complete a G2G pass
  • Must use SafeWA for checkins at public venues (though I note compliance with this is low already)
Unclear if you are expected to isolate until that first result is released, but that was certainly the case when I got in from Melbourne just before the border shut in June.

Fine except for the testing. Won’t be going unless for work or if my family guilt me into going - in which case free PDF editor may or may not be used 😂

Possibly most are border residents. NSW is common within Wodonga (and Vic in Albury).

Yes indeed. All above board.

One of the people we were off-grid camped with is a lady that grew up just over the border. So on Weds she went to Echuca to have lunch with her sister and her family who crossed over for lunch.

There are a lot of questions about the "modelling" from WA.

My main one is what is the detail behind the vaccination levels set in the model? Do they account for increasing vaccination after the 80% mark or is it just assumed to be a static number.

As we all know when covid comes then most run for the jabs...

That's why a little leak is needed.

"To explore the risks of vaccination peaking at lower thresholds, the model was configured to cease further vaccinations once the
thresholds of 80% and 90% coverage are met."

So it's a complete waste of time then and reflective in no way of the real life scenario.

People get paid to make this stuff up hey?

And that's why test on arrival will be here to stay for some time.
