Australian state border restrictions

As far as I can tell - this is the official QLD Government web site that addresses this question:

And down the bottom is this info - directly screenshot from that QLD web site (down the bottom of the page), I would be waving that around if anyone in QLD was asking people for paper test results or PDFs.

No one is going to read all of this stuff, I bet almost all people will just rock up to the ‘normal’ covid test places so watch all of this slowly implode 😂

I wonder what that means? The airport LGA ( if arriving by air), where they've been staying for the past X days prior to travel, the person's residence, or what?

Indeed, very vague, and so what where the person lives. Why not their work LGA or the previous night's restaurant LGA etc. How is it even going to be enforced, lots of people don't update their drivers license.

"Those travelling from New South Wales, Victoria and the ACT will be required to have a COVID test in the 72 hours prior to arrival in SA, and must undergo a daily symptom check for 14 days via a phone app. Those who travel from a local government area with a vaccination rate of less than 90 per cent will also also have to undergo tests within 24 hours of arrival in SA, and again on days six and 13."
They will assess risk when you apply and these may not apply to everyone. I'm guessing the interstate folk are now getting a taste of the 'matrices' that SA Health have pondered over for months and are inflicting on us. My QR check in use is becoming faulty. I blame old age.

It's all a nonsense and relies on people tripping themselves up. However they will grab drivers licences so residence may be an issue.

Is there any legal requirement to travel with a DL in Australia? You could travel with a passport instead.

Interstate I think there's a requirement if planning to drive but not required by SA residents. However the Police are doing the check-in and somehow you'll need to provide an address because they will be watching out for naughty people.

Aside from driving a car, no, but I know both QLD and NSW (and probably others), police can verify your identify on the spot using their system, I think it even shows photo ID to them if you have a licence. If you tell porkies they'll find out then and there.

Yes. But borders will open Tuesday.

That won’t apply to any Victorians. I suspect the other checks will be random esp as if coming by road the police are standing down their strict checks.

Huh? There are LGAs in VIC and NSW what are below 90% double? So why won’t they have to test a billion times? Did I miss something?

In SA you have 48hrs to produce a DL if asked to by the police.

They won’t be able to check every single person though it will take far too long… what a poo show for the poor SA workers trying to manage this absolute mess of orders… it’s worse than QLD (god can’t believe that is possible)…

I'm planning a NSW trip in December, to try and clean up some outstanding work that's scattered all over the State. Start in Adelaide and head for Broken Hill, then through Griffith, down to Albury, then north. Finish at Lismore, turn around and head back to Adelaide. By the time we cross the SA border, we should have travelled through the majority of the regional LGA's in NSW, excepting the South coast. Be interesting to see what sort of a reception we get.

Out of interest this PCR test you must undertake within 72hours of travel to SA, and I know this has round about been covered & not covered, but can this be the tax payers drive-thru state run type, text message?

I mean who's going to pay ~$150-$250 to enter, especially when flights under under $100.

All in all a good thing, breaking thru slowly, just see how SA gov react once covid starts landing!! That'll be interesting to me.

Oh they will throw all the resources at it or simply make people wait.

80% isn't it?

Where does it say that? it clearly states anyone visiting from an LGA with less than 90% fully vaccinated and community cases (which certainly applied to many Victorian LGAs ) cant attend large events and must go 3 tests post arrival.

You need to read what I posted before your post on the opening. 80% lets you in but if you live or work in LGA with cases unless that LGA is 90% fully vaxed you will experience harrassemtn by way fo daily phones calls to check symptoms and have to do 3 tests (no word on whether paid or free).

Makes SA a no go zone for the time being.

Between 80-90%??

As if anyone is going to travel to SA and do 3 tests unless it’s desperate families / essential work. Forget tourism or non critical business.

Health check SA is an app not a phone call. I agree though, only desperate family will be interested but at least it's better than current. And no more med hotels for international arrivals who are vaccinated.

And mentions of the Test Match. SACA and ACA are very lucky that the first test is in Qld because otherwise there would be significant issues with people being unable to attend ( all the official hangers-on )

Maybe the media has it wrong but this is reported locally. Seems to me that all that people from Vic and not Byron need is a pre covid test and use the app to monitor symptoms. No testing after that unless from Overseas or High risk (transmission and less than 80% vaccination). The banning from Test Match is for high risk people and not Victorians and NSW people.

"Under a new matrix released on Friday, travellers from low and moderate risk areas must have a Covid test up to 72 hours before arrival in SA.

They must also have a daily symptom check using a new app, HealthCheck.

Those from “high risk” areas or international arrivals must quarantine for seven days, either at home or, if this was unsuitable, at a medi-hotel.

High risk locations are those with community transmission and a less than 80 per cent double vaccination rate.

They will be banned from entering state-based “high risk” locations such as hospitals or aged care facilities, as well as large-scale events of more than 1000 people such as the Ashes Test series.

They must also seek Covid testing on days six and 13 along with daily symptom checking. "

Is there actually an official source for anything in SA we can review… messy messy messy!
