The key issue is the new ‘test on arrival’ requirement. I’ll already have had a test within 72 hours before reaching the border and am ‘double shot, maaaate’, so no issues there.Based on my experiences from previously driving into SA. If there's a checkpoint, it'll be police manned and they usher you off to the side, much like an RBT.
Unless you have some form of exemption, I'd suggest you get a Covid test within 72 hours of entering SA. If you can flash a negative test result and you're fully vaccinated, you should be OK. To be sure, it might be wise to contact the help line, shortly before travelling and double check the goal posts haven't moved.
But I’m heading into the SA Riverland area to play golf and am trying to understand how long the SA Govt will disrupt my plans with the additional test and then wait for a response. Best case is a nose scrape at the border PM hours, head to Renmark and isolate there overnight, receive results overnight then ️next morning...
