Australian state border restrictions

Based on my experiences from previously driving into SA. If there's a checkpoint, it'll be police manned and they usher you off to the side, much like an RBT.
Unless you have some form of exemption, I'd suggest you get a Covid test within 72 hours of entering SA. If you can flash a negative test result and you're fully vaccinated, you should be OK. To be sure, it might be wise to contact the help line, shortly before travelling and double check the goal posts haven't moved.
The key issue is the new ‘test on arrival’ requirement. I’ll already have had a test within 72 hours before reaching the border and am ‘double shot, maaaate’, so no issues there.
But I’m heading into the SA Riverland area to play golf and am trying to understand how long the SA Govt will disrupt my plans with the additional test and then wait for a response. Best case is a nose scrape at the border PM hours, head to Renmark and isolate there overnight, receive results overnight then ⛳🏌️‍♂️next morning...

The three boffins are meeting again today. Honestly this is pathetic.
You need to now also test on arrival. But again that could change today.
The phrase ‘jumping at shadows’ comes to mind!

They stuttered something yesterday about being able to leave the airport go and find a testing station then testing and ‘isolating’ until you have a result but so much of yesterdays announcement was so garbled and made up at the last minute who knows

Not a chance.

If it gets any more onerous I’ll simply turn around. I’d love to check out the SA Murray Riverland courses in Renmark, Berri, Loxton and Waikerie, then head down to the Limestone Coast area and play at Naracoorte, Mt Gambier and Millicent. But, if the SA Govt would rather I spent my money on accom, food and golf in Swan Hill, Echuca-Moama, Corowa and Yarrawonga, then so be it.

I haven’t played in those regional SA areas yet, but have along the NSW/Vic Murray, hence the trip. Would just be annoying, but it really is a first world problem!

The testing station at the airport is currently returning tests in around 3-5hrs

What's your experience with the waiting time/line?

What's your experience with the waiting time/line?
Never had more than about a dozen people in the line when I’ve been there and adequate staff to ensure maybe a 10-15 minute wait at worst. Obviously it can bank up if multiple flights and depending on how quick you can grab your bags and exit

What's your experience with the waiting time/line?
It was very fast. It can also be used as a general testing site not associated with travel. Recognised as being quick.

I arrived into Adelaide this morning. No problem coming in, just asked if I'd been overseas, QRA check in and done.
I was going to get a test whilst I was there as I need a negative test for a site I'm visiting, however the queue was huge. Extended right across to the road and several deep.
I'm now waiting for a drive through test. Still a long queue but nothing like the airport.

Thanks all, would be worth using if the line is not too long. Sounds like it really depends on the day.

Depends on time. If your flight arrives at the same or similar time to others then yes the lineups could be huge. The airport drive through test site often isn’t as busy as other drive through sites though if that is a option for people

They were asked in the press conference how they could screen / stop overseas arrivals.

Answer: they can’t and have no access to check as . So I’m sure they have a stream of people coming in after landing in Melbourne or Sydney. Bit of omicrom love perhaps 😂

I'd say you're spot on. I asked one of the PPE clad as I passed through the queue (there was no way around it!) and they confirmed they'd had several flights on top of each other.
My thought is that yesterday's test on entry requirement has caused chaos. My drive through wait was just under two hours and they told me 24 - 48 hours for results. I queried if it was likely to be any quicker and was told no.

Have you evaded your SA Police guard who is tailing your every move then ? :)

We do have a surge in SA right now so maybe a delay but I'd expect it back by early tomorrow if not by midnight tonight. Marshall mentioned five hours yesterday but likely he has no idea.

Obviously lower volumes, 5 hours is possible. When the SA Government adds further surveillance/arrival tests then those timeframes should blow out.
