Australian state border restrictions

Lots of posts on social media about the disastrous queues in SA for tests at the airport and suburbs as a part od their latest border restrictions rules - seems like SA Health was not ready for their own rules… sigh…

You don't need to line up for that. About two minutes away there is a clinpath lab drive through. Or go to accommodation and isolate until you get the next test done.

Agree, the queues were not like that before.

4 hour queues in the drive ins to get a test is normal in Adelaide? Wow they have you guys beaten down well!
It was up to 12 at some places during the last outbreak. But its summer now. 30 today. 37 tomorrow. We live two minutes away from a site and we can check the queues before we leave. Usually just about five cars or so. Of course last year it was hours.

Wow….. seems like a another massive miss and not understanding that when more planes come in more people might be on them too…. Whoopsies!

It was actually on ABC news breakfast this morning. Staff on the ground have been abused and yelled at (not cool), there was an accident as people tried to reverse out of a drive in after waiting for 4 hours and SA health phone lines are jammed…. Time for the chief hairdresser to sort out her team!

The airport lines vary according to the time of day. I’ve come in several times in the last couple of weeks and whilst most have been under 10 minutes some have been an hour or so. Plenty of testing stations yesterday had minimal queues if people are willing to hunt around. They do desperately need to be able at short notice to swap staff between testing stations though and it’s coordinated pretty poorly. No way would I wait 8-10hrs like some are

Is the QLD entry pass issued automatically (e.g. afterhours), or does it need to be processed?

NT has refined their exclusion zone, so can travel to more NT areas post 20/12/21. Previously was just Darwin Alice Springs and Katherine I recall

Countdown is now on to WA being locked out of Tasmania with Tassie recording a local case. Pre-Xmas do we think?

If I was travelling from Tas to WA before Christmas, I'd be doing it this week

Agree - I'd have changed my flight the second the first case was recorded this morning and already be on the way to the airport. Another huge blow for WA tourism operators and of course family and friends reuniting over Christmas is surely looming....

I forgot to attach my vaccination evidence but it still came through straight away.

I think most with WA families had already given up on the idea of reunions over Christmas.

So just thinking, McGowan is waiting for 90% double juiced before opening........does he think this will minimise covid cases...to what extent??

NSW & VIC are few increments above 90% double juiced & recording 000's of covid........How on Earth will McGowan handle 000's of cases???

I don't get the end game in some states.

daily cases won't stop being reported.

The justification for 90% over 80% was about the number of deaths, not so much the number of cases.

ah ok fair enough. Makes sense.

But how is McGowan going to manage the high number of cases, you think the number will be sort of sidelined & deaths or even hospitalizations / ICU's will be major focus?

I find it difficult to see how coming from keeping covid out completely, claiming safest place on earth, then allowing hundreds of cases & deaths in will be acceptable, Will the border not be closed again after Feb 5 or even be delayed when NSW & VIC start having anywhere near the reported possible 25k daily cases??

I don't see WA accepting covid & deaths. QLD & SA having early issues with it so far & WA in another league of safety.

Except we’re still obsessing over “case numbers”. They’re no longer “cases”, they’re most definitely just “positive test results”
you think if we used the term Vic had 1600 positive test results today it would lighten the thought process??? or have any effect whatsoever?

don't matter what term we use, we all know what the number represents.

Maybe should be "1600 people who have won todays prize for a week off work free of all chores and housework, total relaxation only"
