Australian state border restrictions

how many from WA had been east
There was a coast to coast market war not so long ago between QF and VA both using A330 and upgraded cabin amenity and service.
That didn't last long and eventually mostly went back to the 737 public transport service.
The patronage of the airline lounges over there seem to wear hi-vis indicating the clientele were not necessarily leisure.

For many leisure travellers, It was cheaper to go to SE Asia than to PER

So coupled with domestic state border restrictions uncertainty, and the opening up of international travel without need for a travel exemption, I don't think PER will feature much on travel itineraries of most people.
QF seem to be more excited about SYD-ADL-DEL and MEL-ADL-DEL than PER as a destination- using the A330 that would have done the transcon flights in the past.

Does Omicron cause eyelash reflexes (blinking) to go up?

Well apparently state border restrictions are back on the agenda at National cabinet tomorrow / the dogs breakfast of randomised different rules, changing every couple of days confounding travellers and leaving a lot to cancel will be discussed. I’m sure there will be zero resolution on this though, thinking positively…

The best outcome to sort this out is a rapidly increasing number of cases in SA and Queensland to make any closure moot. Both appear to be well advanced in meeting that objective.

These two are the big ones, putting aside the hermit kingdom.

Tasmania will go broke if they try to close over summer. It’ll also cancel their big event - Sydney to Hobart. NT just opened and their market is tiny.

Has anyone had any personal recent experience with entering SA? How long it takes, what gets checked, if any time of the day appears to be busier than another?

Oh. They'll agree to stuff. Then do something else.

Of course the media have whipped this up and the state premiers will rule. Australia is just a joke.
I really hope that any restrictions are met with huge rallies in cities with general mayhem.

I actually prefer it when they’re not united. At this point unity could be more dangerous than division.

Very little good has come from National Cabinet since about April 2020.

Depends…

You have the NSW/VIC/ACT alliance who are behaving most sensibly.

Then ranked in order of how loopy their border rules
1) SA
2) QLD / NT
3) TAS

So it will be about if they can reign the other states in a bit. All this ridiculous random testing has to stop.

(WA will be excluded anyway given they are completely locked out from everywhere)

I reckon the interstate visitor test demands has a lot to do with the emergency cabinet meeting on border restrictions, and the smaller states seriously need to be called out on this.

Qld announced today over 200,000 entry passes issued in the first week. Add to that pre-arrival test requirements from SA, NT and Tas and you have a huge additional demand on test resources particularly in NSW and Vic where there is a lot of pressure already from increasing case numbers and close contacts. Lengthening times for results to come back also mean it’s becoming an impracticable demand.

At the same time Qld appears to be letting itself off the hook for post arrival testing. How convenient.
Dr Gerrard said the state was not "actively monitoring" day-five PCR tests that are required by people quarantining at home after travelling from interstate hotspots."We are relying on the goodwill of the people," he said.

However, the Chief Health Officer insisted that the tests, which were labelled "very important" by Health Minister Yvette D'Ath a fortnight ago, were a "minor" issue.

"It is a minor aspect of the public health response," he said.

I’ve come back twice in the last 7 days.
As a local it’s obviously easier as I can jump in my car and head to a quieter testing station but obviously they will check your application and proof of the pre arrival test result. Depending what time of the day you get in and how many other flights are arriving at the same time will determine how long you are in the line for at the Airport testing station. I’d avoid first thing in the morning and around dinner time. Mid morning and mid afternoon seem the quieter from my observations

I would propose an ultimatum from NSW/VIC/ACT. If the other jurisdictions don’t remove the test requirements, then all citizens of QLD/SA/TAS/NT will be required to obtain a test within 24 hours of departure from their state if they are going to NSW/VIC/ACT. Returning residents exempt (sound familiar Tasmania?)

This will crash the testing system in those states, just like it has done in our states. And it won’t take much to do it either, none of them have any scale.

At risk of being flamed by the usual suspects ;), it’s as I’ve been saying for weeks, there is absolutely no way the states can monitor compliance of all these ridiculous conditions.

There’s simply too many people for them to be enforceable. They don’t have integrated smart systems, no link to airlines / other border crossing checks so people who are worrying about trying to abide by these wasteful (at best) rules need not stress so much…. :)

Be thankful the airlines have point blank refused to adapt their systems to support this lunacy.

SA‘a testing system has already crashed without this. TAS had 5 hour waits today and people just chucked a U turn and left. QLD doesn’t even have testing stations in many regional areas that are accessible in any great number. It’s truly a complete mess….

Thank you for this information. Sounds like the suburban testing stations would be the better option. The only "issue" (if you can call it that) is there is no real time wait time information on the SA Health website.

As you enter the terminal upon disembarking, is the line for police checking your details reasonably efficient?

If everything is in order it’s only a minute or two per person and I’d guess 20 staff

Curious how things work when there are 5 x 737/A320s scheduled to arrive between 7pm and 8pm this evening
If you are on the last couple of flights at that time you may be lining up the exit ramps at the gates

You do realise many countries in Europe are bringing back restrictions. Please read some global news, get out of your anti Australia bubble.

It hardly got a mention in the news, ppl barely care about national cabinet if at all.

Yes rallies & mayhem is the answer.... I don't think.

Feel free to leave anytime, now your allowed. Maybe better countries out there ..
