The state border thing in SA is nonsensical. For the last few days, it's been if you arrived since last Wednesday from Greater Sydney then isolate for 14 days and three tests. Then last night they extended the drag net to include the Monday to Tuesday prior. Previously Monday and Tuesday arrivals only had to test, but not isolate, on 3 days. Now, Monday and Tuesday arrivals have to isolate for 14 days. But they've been in the community for almost 7 days by now. Having arrived the Friday before MrP decided to get tested even though there has been no instruction from SA Health to do so. Negative of course.

At least they only have to isolate 14 days from the date they had been in Sydney. But I agree, having been out and about for a week already, isolating now is pretty pointless.

During the last Melbourne outbreak, the WA government went back 11 days - I was caught up in this and wondered what the point of isolating after 11 days was...

Over the Christmas period when they announced it on 31 December retrospectively I bailed out on the next flight - figured nobody would have any idea what the rules were and how to enforce.

Gotta say I am wondering on my next trip if the same were to happen, could I do the same thing and head to the airport to leave on the next flight or would that now be considered to be breaking the directive of the invisible WA CHO?

And now I can't find the specific OK for transiting Melbourne airport. But they have put in an OK for transiting Sydney airport, if arriving from a non NSW airport.

I was meant to be going to SA via MEL this evening (departing LST). They've changed my flights and I'm just about to leave for the airport and head to SYD. Going the long way around but I'm not sure why.

I had family caught up in this one over NYE, after they were already out and about for a week.

However in the more recent outbreaks it hasn't been applied retrospectively (edit: unless an exposure site is added that you attended). Of course, things could still change, especially given the quite belated case that's just been found in WA after NSW travel the week before last.

I'd be surprised if there are any easings anywhere across Australia for a fortnight.

Hmmm that's annoying if true. So if I book for a few weekend's time there's a strong chance I'll need to cancel again.

Want to go to Adelaide without getting COVID tested. I'm not a close contact and don't know of anyone I know ever having COVID in Greater Melbourne, so see no need to get tested and to quarantine till getting a result especially for a weekend visit and will wait until the authorities come to their senses. It must be really hurting the airlines at the moment having greater restrictions than are needed in place discouraging people from travelling.
