Australian state border restrictions

Yeah best bet is to drive to Northern Rivers region of NSW (Ballina or Byron or Kingscliff), rent a beach house then have relos from Gold Coast or Brisbane drive (or get the bus) the 1-2 hours down to visit (for the day or to stay). This means less precious leave wasted, and maximum time with family and friends.

Also removes risk, on the rules changing whilst you are en route - Queensland cant ever lock its own residents out, and cant ever stop you going to a NSW border town.

Locking one‘s own residents out has already been a feature of 2020, so most certainly Qld can lock them out.

NT expected to announce their reopening date imminently.

QLD at their painstakingly slow end of month meeting.

WA in the year 2045... ;)

South Australia will reopen its border to Victoria on December 1

South Australia will re-open its border to Victoria as of the first of December.

The Premier Steven Marshall says there will be no requirement for travellers from Victoria to quarantine from this date.

Not aware of Queensland locking any of ther residents out, only enforcng mandatory 14 day hotel quarantine if they have been to a Qld decalred hot spot. AFAIK only WA and SA have locked out their own residens - those two states have poor form in that respect, especially since were receiving overseas arrivals, just not their own residents whod been in Vic or NSW.

Northern Territory to open to all of VIC (including Melbourne) from November 30th.

So update for Vic is now:

NSW: Nov 23
ACT: Nov 23
TAS: Nov 27
NT: Nov 30
SA: Dec 1 (although we may see VIC close to SA after the outbreak)
QLD: announced in a week or so
WA: 2045

Queensland shutting to South Australia from midnight

Queensland has become the latest state to shut out South Australians.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk confirmed Adelaide was now listed as a hotspot in Queensland and the sunshine state would be shutting its southern neighbours out from 11.59pm tonight.

Any South Australian who arrives in Queensland from midnight onwards will be required to complete two weeks in hotel quarantine.

Recent arrivals currently in Queensland will need to get a coronavirus test.

You almost have to wonder why any staff who work at the quarantine facilities are allowed to go home each night. Perhaps they need to be treated like FIFO workers, effectively in quarantine of their own, on something like a 6 week roster. Alternatively, I don't think we're using Tasmania for anything else, so do it all there.

Got to love the bit about South Australians being interviewed on arrival at Melbourne airport. Last time I looked, SA and Vic had a land border. Oh, and apparently I'm now welcome in NT, but there's no way to get there other than flying, which is, honestly, the absolute last thing on my agenda.

Obviously that is drastic for all travellers but as soon as one of the travellers tests positive then anyone who can be considered a close contact must have special restrictions.

Some of the industries down my way have had staff 'bunk down' on site for their tours of duty.

Not all of SA, 20 Adelaide LGA’s, similar to Sydney/NSW.

Any update/thoughts on QLD border opening date for Victorians?
1. Currently only option is quarantine in NSW.
Apply border pass.

2. Apply "Exemption" quarantine in QLD Quarantine hotel (only covid QLD call center) National Covid is useless!!!!

3. Wait for announcement between two women having a political slanging match on 1st Dec.

Dan saying HIS next announcement 6th Dec not a good sign.

The odds are pretty good that next week Qld will announce its opening with quarantine free arrival for travellers from Victoria starting in early December.

Agreed. Unless there are any more community spread cases, they would open the border to Vic, because no such cases for two weeks. Two days ago, Sydney met that bar also and it was headline news.

However two silly things about this rule. First, Qld omly winds its clocks at the end of each month, even if the requirements are met earlier. Second, if there is a single case in either of these places in the rest of this month the rule is breached and it appears there would be no reopening to the "offending" hotspot.

Don't shoot me I'm only a messenger.

Cheers skip

Yup but don’t hold your breath with QLD they’ll make some random new rule up, NSW should be open tomorrow and VIC on Saturday by their own PUBLISHED rules but who knows what rules will be made up to suit their agenda....

Is it really all that drastic. The quarantine hotels are an obvious weak point in the system, so unless we totally stop people from coming back from overseas, they're going to be an ongoing problem.

Or we could just use Tasmania.

When is this public servant making announcement?
Tv on and it's official business hours now in QLD!!!
