VIC is moving all QLD LGA’s below from orange to red from tonight.

VIC closes to Perth.

Victoria brings in COVID border restrictions for Queensland and WA locations

By Kathy Lord

The local government areas (LGA) of Perth and Peel in WA and 11 LGAs in southeast Queensland from Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Palm Island and Magnetic Island will become red zones under Victoria’s travel permit system from 1:00am on Wednesday, Professor Brett Sutton said.

Victorians scheduled to leave before that cut-off they can still enter the state on their orange zone permits.

Those who leave after are subject to the red zone permit rules meaning they must undertake 14 days of quarantine.

So basically VIC and TAS are the only states open to each other?! If it wasn’t so serious it would be crazy.
VIC can still go ADL (yes ADL not ADE), I know 'why you wanna go there', but both states open to each other....for now.
I'm flying MEL-ADL return tomorrow.

I'm tipping VIC will get a case by Sunday. I can't believe we don't have a case & so many other states do atm, it's mind boggling!

Yep, seems to be the NSW situation has not deteriorated like they expected which is why the NSW border is still open. Apparently they were waiting for the NSW presser so they probably would have closed it if numbers surged.
Right now it's more likely people from SEQ wanting to go south to NNSW to get away from the lockdown...

Not much traffic going north into lockdown now I suspect.

As Vic is leaving the border open until tomorrow, there’s a good chance an (unknowingly) infected person will travel though. Unless people go straight home and quarantine just in case, which isn’t likely.
Evidently there were more than the usual number of caravans for school holidays heading north from Perth to avoid lockdown.

There is a massive exodus from BNE today, most fleeing back to Melbourne. I squashed some of our team onto the QF service via Newcastle to Melbourne as the directs all sold out!

SA and TAS are open to each other and a number of VIC premesis are red for (no) entry into Tas. Tas premier advising locals not to go interstate (ie spend your holiday $$ here :) ).

Trouble is, only Jetsar fly direct between ADL and HBA, so that's as good as a border closure for me.

AFL discussing teams to be hubbed in Tas. I hope they say no unless the AFL agrees to a local team :) .

I have a 'mole' in NSW Treasury who is always telling me how the upside of all the border closures to Sydney residents is it helps keep the money in NSW rather than spending it in foreign jurisdictions like Queensland. He jokes that the finding of Covid cases in Sydney whenever school holidays starts is all part of the 'cunning' plan.

This was somewhat true last year when Sydneysiders could travel to the regions, Byron Bay had its busiest year ever, but this round with not being able to travel within our own state, people will just stop spending except on uber eats.

Are you sure your mole doesn't work for the WA Treasury?

Mark McGowan is saying this all the time (about WA).

I have stayed so many times over the last year at Rydges Mount Panorama I am thinking of entering this years race.

Kind of interesting that NSW is still requiring Health Declarations from VIC travellers but QLD, NT, WA and just come on in.

Nope, they work in SA Tourism. Where our Premier is currently occupying his time as he hasn't run the state since March last year but lets the PC do the job.
