Australian state border restrictions

Hopefully not too far off that vaccinated people will be exempt from state border closures

——

Australians have a 'vaccine passport' to avoid border closures. We're not using it. Yet.

I got mine yesterday, with an e-mail from myGov advising it was ready. You can download it for offline use as well so should be relatively easy for everyone. Certainly more improvements can be made but it is a good start. I'm thinking, something like a QR code so you can be verified vaccinated at border entry point to wherever in the event of an outbreak, until more are vaccinated.

.....All dependant on the States and Territories controls ... definition of not too far off ?

I have a number of upcoming QF flights, am I correct in thinking that :

Taken from QF website "If your plans are affected by border restrictions, and
  • you're no longer able to travel, you can choose to change or cancel your flight yourself. However, if you do, you may be charged a cancellation fee in accordance with your fare rules"
So they are imposing fare rules even if border restrictions are now in place?

They are waiving change fees if you pick another date. If you want your money back, you need to hope they cancel the flight.

Thanks. Not overly flexible. VA and even JQ have been giving credits if requested,

Mrsdrron got a credit just over 2 weeks ago flying LST - MCY but changing from via MEL to via SYD.
Will probably end up doing the reverse change in 3 weeks time.

Wondering about applying for a refund for a flight that was cancelled recently (currently have got a flight credit) but still hoping that I can travel soon. If I can't travel soon then I'll probably call them up and ask for a refund.

In any event, why would anybody attempt to travel in Oz at the moment? I’m far more afraid of the blind panic reactions that we continually see, than I am of Covid. And really, shouldn’t that be the other way around.
I - and many I know - have given up on booking domestic vacations until something gives in this regard.

Things would change if those vaccinated are exempted from the border schizophrenia.

Even better, if you are eligible for a vaccination, you are only allowed on a flight if you've had at least your first shot.

They have to start somewhere. You have to have had plenty of time to have both shots before they can require that. So at least one shot first then later both shots.
When you say "you", I have, as have my wife, daughter and son. We are not laggards.

I should have said they. Also making it one shot provides an immediate incentive for those who have been not bothering to get their first shot. Whereas if they can only get AZ and can't travel for 3 months due to needing both shots that provides less of an immediate benefit. They would then change it that they need to have had both shots.

This Delta strain is just SO transmissable! WA has now instituted lockdown for 4 days to halt progress. Casual contacts at gym and pub now positive. Nevertheless contacts are “unwell”, not fatally ill.

Funny thing, some people asked me why I went into the office today. My answer was I think I will be at home for the rest of the week :)

Well I am glad I got my DPRSA to the DPRWA dates wong and a trip in. It was so nice to catch up with the WA folks 3 weeks back. At the current lock down rates I would like to propose another catch up in 2026-27 subject to border openings ;)

border openings ;)
What are these?

South Australia. Won't allow someone from interstate (WA I think) to pay a final viewing of his mum who died a couple of days ago, nor visit his family. Will allow AFL this week. Heartless and totally inconsistent.
I thought AP and JY had a franchise on this sort of nonsense. Obviously not.

Pizza Guy that led to Australia's most draconian (but thankfully just three days) lock down. Not even allowed out to exercise.

QLD presser later today, 1100 instead of the usual 0900.

Good indication NSW border is closing, Brisbane lockdown, or both. I'd say the first is very likely, the second is 50/50.
