Avianca Brazil Amigo status match

I have good news on this front.

It is indeed a soft landing.

Even better, if you are currently Diamond you will drop to Amigo Gold which is also Star Gold. I have had this confirmed by email from Avianca.

......Avianca's website is atrocious......

Thanks Danger. However, given the above, hope the landing follows your confirmation and isn't" fluffed", cheers, PJ

For the sign up I had to resort to send them all my details and ask them create a new profile for me. They have , unfortunately, entered the first part of my surname as my middle name in the profile even though in the email I had very clearly identified all the required fields including my complete surname). Anyway, I don't seem to be able to add my Avianca FF number to itineraries (the request gets rejected because the pax name does not match the FF name). I have sent them an email but I am not sure how long I'll have to wait to hear back.

Hmmm. Exactly what I'm getting. It really seems to be a shambles.

I haven't been able to read all of the comments here, however I'm having the following trouble with avianca:
1. Avianca (TACA) refused to recognise my star alliance status on check in at LAX headed to Managua. I had to pay for a bag and argue with them for over an hour. I'm now trying to get that money back.
However the lounge (air Canada) and all the Central American avianca lounges (el Salvador, Managua) let me in no problem.
2. My cards have still not arrived after multiple requests
3. When I login, it doesn't show any of my details (every field is blank)
4. I emailed them to change my address to get my cards sent and they screwed it up, put the street name in the town etc.

Overall this feels more trouble than it's worth. The only airline who handled it seamlessly was COPA who, after missing my avianca flight to San Jose, booked me on the next flight, recognised status, apologised profusely for having to charge me for the flight, and gave me all the info and reassurance I needed to feel ok again (I was very stressed).

Hopefully I'll find a way to make the most of it before it expires.

No need to read the thread. Your issues pretty much sum up what everyone seems to be experiencing.

From growing accounts, Avianca seems to be a budget operation. I'm particularly concerned to hear your credentials weren't recognised by a Star carrier. Very poor.

Interestingly, they accepted my COPA boarding pass from the same day as proof of status and are refunding me for the bag. No apology for the hassle, just "we did what the system told us to".

Whilst I have never used my Avianca Diamond card they have graciously issued me with a new Diamond card expiring on31/3/2018.

Wow. That's incredible.

Avianca's website is atrocious. The advice from Avianca is:

To print your temporary card through our website, click on Login and enter your data and password to access. Then click "Hi, Danger" located in the top right field of the screen, then select the "Meus Pontos" option and in the menu on the left of the screen click "Imprimir Cartão". The image of your card will appear next to it and you can print it by selecting the "Print Card" option to print it.

The website functionality is now working and you can finally print a copy of your membership card (not that I expect any airline would accept a printout but anyway).

FWIW you could always take a screenshot of your card, paste it into paint, crop it and print that.
I did that and as a result I had a double sided laminated card which was accepted by TG for priority checkin, lounge access etc in BKK.

Interesting. I'll give that some thought.

Try to get priority check-in and lounge at Krabi with print out two week ago, but didn't work

I've logged in to check my status and it still shows gold but the "card" says expiry 30.3.17. Who knows. I never did receive a physical card.

Had you already put your frequent flyer details into the booking?

Mine shows the same expiry. Hope once it updates it'll show the same card with a different expiry!

Which airline was this with and was your status reflected properly on your boarding pass? Were you specifically denied because you didn't have a physical card?

I wonder if they extended gold for another year would be interesting. Mine has the same thing few days ago now the site is dead? Shows updating but doesn't display anything when I go into the my points.

Well on 3 April (ie today) I'm still Diamond according to the website :)

Also still showing as Diamond but card expiry date is 30/03/2017. Wonder if that will change or not?

Just checked my Gold card , still showing Gold but expiry March 30- 2017
