Was this a last minute booking?
Didn’t check LM lately but TG J/F long haul availability currently restricted on UA to mostly Y unless booking T-14
It's in June...what I see is business availability is OK BKK-MEL and virtually non-existent MEL-BKK for the forseeable future.

Looks like TG switched to T-14 with some scattered availability outside this window, mostly within 1-2 months.
Are you able to provide screenshots of these please @boomy for those of us still learning the FF ropes? Cheers

My advice is to use UA MileagePlus to search flights as availability usually matches LM. Not sure what you’re looking for but there are some TG F seats available next week ex SYD.

If you are looking to connect in BKK then better search availability on UA then on LM and if there’s no match search each sector individually on LM and use the screenshot method.

Charger.. mostly this requires just looking through different dates.. I imagine Boomy would have just gone through the dates over the next 30 - 50 days to find available flights.... It is just trial and error.. or use United to search initially..:)

Thanks @boomy . I'm after BKK - SYD return in J or F.

Thanks so much @CJEMNMAC! Are you referring to searching the LM site initially? Cheers

SYD-IAH Easter Thursday next year for 80k. Thank you all the AFFers for guidance during the error fraught process! Also started on United website to study the patterns that seats are released, then check LifeMiles once the business savers become available.

Online T-14 booking.

BNE-TPE EVA J A333
TPE-HKG EVA J B78X

50k miles + $US90 taxes.

When LM works it’s so easy. Takes 3-4 clicks, less than two minutes to finalise a booking. Fast and efficient. Shame it mostly works with basic itineraries.
Having said that, as simple as this itinerary may look it is not allowed on UA (backtracking maybe) even though it’s the fastest non-direct route.

Flying on a revenue ticket BNE-TPE for the Aussie day long weekend next year which was about ~$1,600 one way in J so not too bad.

Hoping for an announcement for the A330 to be changed out for the new Dreamliner before then!

When the flights are available online then LM is so easy, so long as you don't want to make changes / cancellations and have to use the call centres. I managed to get LHR-JNB and JNB-PER Business first time around, however LHR-PER business is proving really challenging, possibly because of the SIN-PER SQ lack of availability to LM members. As a backup, I booked LHR-PER through Krisflyer, hoping that something will come up on LM (cancellation through KrisFlyer is relatively cheap).

Any tips apart from the shreenshot method? (about to research various individual sectors).

When are you looking for? I notice that there is good availability on the new ANA NRT-PER service (starts Sep 1st) but it is one of those situations where LifeMiles doesn't seem to acknowledge the service exists.

Thanks bcworld...it's for mid May next year, so lots of opportunity yet, but unlike the other award availability, this has not been good lately. Yes, ANAmay be a good option - will check when seats are bookable for this.
