Avianca LifeMiles – Bookings and Discussion

Oh? Reported where?
I don’t want to get hopes up, when it was actually announced then never appeared.

I am Colombian living in Australia and just want to vent out that Lifemiles sucks! Seriously, how come they do not allow to book business class seats on Singapore Airlines using points? Is this a LifeMiles problem or is that Singapore thing?

I have a screenshot with the comparison as a proof. Air Canada Aeroplan shows the exact same flights on the same dates with seats available in Business class from SYD-SIN whereas Lifemiles ALWAYS shows no availability on business class on the same flight route, dates or even any other date. Absolute joke!!

@madman2000 - LifeMiles has many issues which is why it has been dumped by many (Australian) users - however not providing access to Singapore Airlines business class awards is actually due to Singapore Airlines not releasing award seats to LifeMiles (and many other *A airlines). SQ has a "special" arrangement with Air Canada and Virgin Velocity which allows these programs access to these awards. So I recommend you start collecting Virgin Velocity points (very easy to do in Australia) or buying Air Canada points (when AC has a promotion selling points with up to 100% bonus - this does not happen all that often). (BTW for both AC and Virgin their SQ award inventory is not always the same as shown on the SQ website).

There was a time when the situation was the exact opposite...when LM showed huge amounts of SQ business availability that didn't show up on other *A programs.

Thanks for that. I choose to collect points with Qantas when Virgin went into Administration during the pandemic but now it looks like their FF program is ramping up so might have to consider ways to collect Velocity now.

By the way, how do you know that the Business seats availability is a SQ issue and not LifeMiles problem? Would this eventually change and go back to normal?

The current situation IS normal. Historically SQ has not allowed premium redemption on the vast majority of its long haul network to MOST Star Alliance partners. I think I remember ANA having a footnote on its award chart (or on the online booking page) saying that SQ business / first redemption was not possible on A380/A350/77W. It has had a few "special" friends over the years who did get access...that includes Velocity now...but mostly, they keep it to themselves and their special friends.

Anyone able to do a lifemiles search in the last couple of days? Seems to get stuck once you try to proceed to the date selection page. Tried Chrome and Edge but no luck 🤷‍♂️

A Public Service Announcement...everytime there is a schedule change to your Lifemiles flight including partners, you MUST get Avianca to reissue the e tickets...the agent I just spoke to confirmed this...even for 5-10 mins changes which is a PITA. I got the new e tickets reflecting the schedule change whilst still on the phone. I rang the US call #: +18007228222

Looks like TG BKK-Japan F is no longer available on LM :( Plenty of MEL-BKK J though.

Is it safe to say the screenshot method is dead now guys??

This is me, and I had no idea - I just had a small time change to flights IST-MUC next May, but I did get the updated info from the partner airline. What happens if you don't get LM to reissue the ticket? Would they not let me board?

You must get your ticket reissued by LM otherwise you will most likely not be allowed to check in
DONE! It took a few phone calls, dropouts, people who don't speak English, the usual LM cough etc, before I found an agent who could reissue the tickets.

Phew - I can't believe that if I hadn't seen that random post above, we wouldn't have been able to board our flight.

I'm so done with LM. These flights are the last of my LM, and I'll never use the program again.
