I think there is some talking at cross purposes here, wasnt he talking C6-C3N-C3S which is not cabotage?

undoubtedly.

a c6-C3PO-c3s wouldn't even be a cabotage issue.

(hehe, got Star Wars reference in there!)

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Will have to take your word for it, my reason for mentioning was that there were report of success on FT on the basis of different airlines (but yes I do realise getting lucky doesnt mean its allowed).

That's the thing. You don't know what will happen. Even with USDM, some people happily booked and flew MEL-SYD on UA and then onwards on another airline. Others got denied boarding in MEL. I don't even know if UA was right in that case?

As for LM...people will have successfully boarded BR flights from the US with a final destination of GUM...although I'm not sure any more people holding those tickets will make it to the plane!

The best bet of course is not to play this game. Some people will of course innocently book invalid tickets and be none the wiser. Really it's LM's job not to issue them, but if you know the ticket's a dud when you book it you need to shoulder the responsibility, even if not officially.

i think there are two issues at play regarding cabotage. The actual rules, and then airline policy.

I think UA could have legally carried passengers MEL-SYD when connecting to another international airline. But they made it clear their policy was not to do so.

As you mentioned it turned out differently in the two situations I am aware of: one passenger was allowed to fly, the other denied.

Can anyone find anything in business class for me from Istanbul to Perth? I know singapore airlines has direct flight from istanbul to singapore but i can't find it on LM! Sept 20th is the date needed. Is this because of the t-14 thing? I should at least be able to find IST-SIN in business?

Has anyone flown Turkish Airlines - there is IST-KUL in business, I can then take a $105 flight from KL to Perth with airasia?

Thoughts?

I have flown Turkish and can recommend, very good food (chef on board) in business, good seats and IFE and a very good lounge (albeit quite full) in IST. Service has been described by some as quite stand-offish but I though on my flight they were quite friendly enough.

I flew Turkish Airlines Zagreb to IST last week and they were excellent. Also IST Lounge is brilliant, two levels with freshly cooked food, turkish tea and BAKLAVA!!!!Yum!! There was a sign "this way for the gold course" but I did not go there foe fear of missing my SQ flight home!!!

I agree with the TK sentiments. I have enjoyed flying them in the past, and I have a few legs booked later this year.

If you need to lock your flights in, book IST-PER and pay the $ for the SIN-PER leg separately.

I booked a business class fare with Singapore airlines through LM, but when I login to the SQ website to pick a seat etc, it says I can't do it because my account didn't book the flights. How do I get to select stuff for the flight??

Two options: try using an app to do the seat selection via smart phone or call SQ and ask them to select a seat. If you call, you may want to look at book-the-cook whilst your at it, if you are interested in pre-ordering the in-flight meal, as they will probably also ask if you have any meal preferences.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

If you've only just booked, you may need to wait for it to be ticketed too. Give it a few days before you call.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

When I login to checkmytrip it says confirmed and I can see the flight. Doesn't allow seat changes on smartphone app either. As cynicor stated, could it take a couple of days before this may be allowed or if it says confirmed - should it already be allowed?

I recently booked a SQ flight through Lifemiles. Initially when I logged into the SQ website I couldn't assign seat. But once I got receipt for booking later in day , I was able to select seat when I logged in again.

Planning a RTW trip eastwards with the missus. When headed back to Aus via Asia, I'm considering NH F Suite vs OZ F Suite from the US (ORD or JFK). With soft and hard product in consideration which is better?

Edit: is SQ F generally out of the question? (I've only seen SIN-DEL)

I've received that email from lifemiles confirming the booking immediately after nookong. Looks like a receipt. Is that the one?

Does it show a ticket number when you click on your name in checkmytrip? This is what matters. A booking will say confirmed even if it is not ticketed yet as it is just saying that your seats are held.

Yes we have ticket numbers on each of our names. When I login to SQ app on mobile app it says, kindly contact Singapore Airlines to make changes to this flight. Very annoying.

Give it 24 hours and then retry.

You need the ticket to be issued first as mentioned above
