Maybe LM is fixing them one by one (finally?). Knowing FRA is available is great as FRA is serviced by A380.

I don't believe it's 'select'. Scandinavian services (CPH, ARN, OSL) are pretty much exclusively 77W operated, with the possible exception of occasional substitution where non stop seasonal flights to HKT are operated.

Yeah TG seem to really look after their Scandanavian customers.

Not to mention FRA is a fairly difficult destination to find A380 availability on - CDG is usually much better.

Certainly do...when you consider the rear J cabin is sold as premium economy, meanwhile they're (were) sending coughpy product to LAX!

Always found it odd, but some say TG actually makes good money in Scandinavia and perhaps the yield makes it worthwhile.

I don't think anyone will ever understand why Thai do the things they do. Clearly the Australian market is no hugely important to them with them sending inferior products etc

I know they're up against it against CX and SQ into Asia but still amazes me with their inconsistency.

Might have something to do with the tourist dollar.

Scandanavian's have a lot of money and love travelling to Thailand, especially Krabi. The place is full of thm.

The distance certainly play a role. BKK to AUS is well within 8 hrs so you can argue its "regional". With the competition, SQ/QF is offering angled lie flat to most non SYD/MEL destinations, so their product aren't necessarily inferior. (In certain cases, superior, like staggered lie flat seats to BNE/PER).

Can't compare with CX, they have the best J product out of Australia, none of the other airlines can compete (although others are catching up!)

You haven't flown SQ J have you on the A380/77W?

On Saturday I got the 77W MEL-BKK which is nice, 3rd time flying that configuration.

However in a couple of days going home I've got the old 777.. but it is a day flight so no complaints.

I have and think the CX hard product is much better...SQ can keep their shapeless benches!

You haven't flown SQ J have you on the A330? Sorry, I have flown the A380/77W J and yes, it's excellent. Which in comparison, makes A330 product way inferior in comparison. Please come down to the level of us commoners living outside of SYD/MEL. Please read my comment again carefully. I said "non SYD/MEL destinations".

If SQ would use their A380/77W products to all other Australian destinations, I would say TG needs to keep up. But SQ is offering inferior products to other Australian cities, why should TG?

Half of MEL SQ flights are operated by SQ A330 or 773...also some in SYD I think. So they're not consistent either.

Ok i did miss the non-SYD/MEL bit :)

See personally I don't find the A330 all that bad.. particularly on day flights.

And while CX J is a great product... tell me last time you could get it on Lifemiles? ;)

Oh and very much a commoner.. I'm currently in a factory in China inspecting products... no high-flyer here! :p

Yes, I know. I believe ex-Mel there are 1xA330, 1x773, but 2x77W per day. SYD only has 1x773 with the angled lie flat. The other 3 all come with the 1-2-1 fully lie flat, with the new J coming. But at least you got a choice. Unless the time really doesn't suit, I know I would pick A380/77W. For BNE/PER/ADL, only A330 so no choice.

But my point is, the competition in Australia is actually not that high for TG to consider using their best product to Australia. Most airlines use their inferior products to Australia anyway. But hopefully with Qantas using their new business class suite servicing Asia, it will stimulate other airlines to consider better products to Australia.

My apology. don't mean any disrespect. It's just that I have been so p***ed off for a long time that SQ still won't give us Brisbanite (and other non SYD/MEL residents) at least one 77W a day, and still charge more than ex-SYD/MEL for an inferior product.

+ 2 ... I also think CX is currently the best J class hard product flying out of Australia.

actually... I reckon Air China's A332 has the best hard product . Long beds - but comfortable and 'soft'... not rock hard like CX.

There has to be a reason for it, there loads/yields must be good enough to not warrant it. But hey you do have EVA Air ex-BNE don't you? Something MEL doesn't have. For as long as there is okish availability into Asia using LM I can't complain.. otherwise my trips to China will be down the back of the bus!

EVA availability is not okish. It's zilch! Zippo, ZERO!!!! You will have better luck scoring QF F SYD-LAX than getting a J seat on BR BNE-TPE. It used to be wide open, all of the sudden they took it all back.....

Let's bring the the topics back.

I found 2 destinations SYD-BKK-xx_ on TG F with LM :). But still no luck on LHR, CDG, NRT/HND. :( For FRA, I am afraid that is TG922 which departs at 12:25pm from BKK and I believe it is operated by A340, not A380. Because of the departure time, only TG from MEL can make the 8 hr connection with LM. So the TG920 on A380 is still not open..... (But this is the hard one to find anyway)
