re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I'm guessing the 'send us in screenshots' (etc) won't work for SQ ex AU as the system can't even see it sector-by-sector? I'm about to send them off my screenshots for a less than optimal routing. Just wondered if there are any accounts of them being able to see more than what we can on line?

Annoying with this SQ block. I'm pretty sure the flights are there :(

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I'm trying to swap from TG to direct SQ flights for MEL-SIN.

I see this with ANA for 3 pax:
28/12:
SQ248 @ 00:30 (333)
SQ238 @ 11:30 (773)
SQ208 @ 19:30 (333)
29/12:
SQ208 @ 19:30 (333)

I see absolutely nothing, not even for 1 pax, with LM for MEL-SIN on SQ for the rest of December and into early January.
(Note: Using LM I am searching SQ only and even manually setting the correct time (using Chrome's "inspect element" tool) but I still see nothing.)

It seems that searching SQ continues to be totally screwed :(

As per my post immediately above yours... all SQ (all classes) has been either blocked - or withdrawn from view ex AU. This is a system error (either by LM or SQ) as we can't even see economy.

Unfortunately it seems coincidental with the 900+ tickets sold for the error SQ fares. (Although that doesn't explain why most of TG has also gone, and I just noticed last night that LM is also blocking selected Air China flights :()

Not entirely true. I can still see lots of economy SYD/BNE-SIN, not sure about ex-MEL as I haven't checked. But these are far in advance, not T-14.

LM's relationship with SQ is a mysterious one. No one knew why they had access to A380/77W J cabin before. But obviously their inventory to SQ's award space is different from other *A members. Perhaps there had been some private contracts between the 2 airlines just like SQ and VA. So seeing award space on ANA may not mean anything with LM.

On a side note. Velocity can now book SQ flights directly online. I actually found some J seats on A380 bookable with velocity at "saver" lever ("Saver" in velocity with SQ flights is still astronomical). Go figure, where did all these SQ award space go?

Which route? Last time I checked CA SYD-PEK F was wide open! I could easily find 3+ F spaces per flight. But if they are blocking Air China space as well, then LM is starting to get over the line!

I mentioned 'selected' air China flights. that's because the available inventory on UA is not matching LM. it matches on some days, and others not.

the reason why LM could access SQ premium flights is probably quite simple. I think all star alliance partners start off with full access, and that gets restricted for a variety of reasons. USDM was selling too many miles so they got blocked (but they used to offer SQ F). UA members prolly redeemed too many sq flights and not enough UA metal.

i dunno about the sq availability far in advance. in the next 14 days there is nothing. blocked.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

I have used MXP Thai F to connect to BKK-SYD

Is that post "IT glitch"? Is it manually booked through LM when you can't book online? Cuz if it is, then we got 2 success story and it is almost certain that TG issue is glitch and we can still book F with TG connecting at BKK.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Well, that probably explain why LM got blocked now.

no, because they're still offering the complete range of flights ex SIN.

the issue is ex AU.

whith the exception of some spotted availability here and there, it seems there is a problem blocking SQ, and blocking all other connecting flights (at least via asia).

while air China might be wide open from sydney, it's not for example allowing connections to SHA/PVG. air India is the same, blocked past delhi. and thai.

if if it wasn't a system glitch, they'd give us the standard 'if we can't see it, we can't book it' line. but they seem willing to book these manually.

as as for how long to fix it? I guess the demand from Australia is tiny.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

They responded requesting more info... So sent my screenshots and ticketing info so fingers and toes crossed. As a fall back should I burn all my KF for suites?

yes. SQ suites is pretty close to the pinnacle of commercial flying IMO.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

PER-SIN is still available in J on SQ over the next two weeks, but not after that. But for east coast, my guess as to what we are seeing is not blocking per se (for T-14), but flights that are immensely oversold in economy. Still selling business class for sale (cash) of course, but not willing to allow redemptions when they need to manage the surplus economy passengers.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

Certainly no more exclusive access to the long haul business class seats it used to have. LHR/CDG/ZRH/AMS...etc, all gone! At the moment, what LM have access to is about as much as what other *A partner has access to. (Except NRT-LAX, which you can still get J seat on the A380)

the issue is ex AU.

This I agree is a glitch. Because it is not exclusively to SQ, but TG.

I think this has been a long term LM problem, not just recently. For some obvious easy connection, LM just won't show, instead, it comes up with some stupid complicated connection. There is no logic to the way LM connection work. This is how all the hidden city trick was based on.

if if it wasn't a system glitch, they'd give us the standard 'if we can't see it, we can't book it' line. but they seem willing to book these manually.

We need more success story from people who managed to have bookings made manually to confirm that. If it's true that they are willing to manually book whatever itinerary we can see separately, but can't when combined, I don't think there is much need to worry. It will be less convenient, but not much worse than USDM when they were with *A.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion

PER-SIN is still available in J on SQ over the next two weeks, but not after that. But for east coast, my guess as to what we are seeing is not blocking per se (for T-14), but flights that are immensely oversold in economy. Still selling business class for sale (cash) of course, but not willing to allow redemptions when they need to manage the surplus economy passengers.

I don't think so. If you try velocity, it's wide open in the next 2 weeks! 2-3 flights a day with J seats (ex-BNE) available at "saver" level (80000 miles one way! ouch!), even Xmas eve or NY eve! So they are still allowing redemption, but guess where those seats go?

Y seats are still available through LM though. So I don't think LM is blocking it.

I know people will call me newbie, paranoid, delusional.....etc. But from all the evidence we have, it seems with SQ, ex-AUS is the problematic one, not ex-SIN. This happened pretty soon after SQ and VA allowed exchange of points, and VA now has access to more SQ award inventory and can book online.

Velocity membership is restricted to Australian/NZ/South Pacific resident. SQ owns 22% of VA.

Coincidence? Conspiracy? Go figure!

Indeed - but still then the same problems with connecting services :( Just checking 01 Jan - can get PER-SIN, but available connecting services to PVG return a nil result for the through connection.

If it is simply that SQ has no J class seats, the issue may be more straight forward. The system has lost the ability to make connections under certain circumstances.

Things may have changed but last time I flew SQ J Europe-Syd around 29 December it was only around 30% full.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - Questions and Discussion
