re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

You can get business fares on VN between MEL and Europe for slightly less than the cost of buying AA miles - very low $4ks! Between Vietnam and EU on 789 or A350 with decent hard product at least.

And from the end of this year, the A350 will be flying to MEL (I forget if it is october or december).

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

thats good to hear, im booked for december via TG :-)

TG yes, but also VN will be flying the A350. I expect fares might rise (they have jacked up fares ex Asia to Australia recently when they started flying the A350 to Shanghai for example, fare went up from $800 to $1200 one way :()

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Has anybody used LM to fly anywhere on a Lufthansa 747-800?

Yes, did it last year just after LH seemed to release a few F seats hither and thither for the first time in a donkey's year.

I did FRA-HND. A couple of others on the forum followed suit likewise.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

is that the one with the seat and bed next to it? or have they been phased out? was on my bucket list for a long time!

I think that was on their 747-400.

So I live in hope as I would like to fly it HND-FRA or FRA to the US.

No idea if it has "stopped" (i.e. LH got cold feet again), but when I booked it, it was common to only be able to find LH F space within 14 days of departure. 748 flight availability is far more common than 388 space.

LH still offer F seats on LM. I've checked last week for a fiend and there was good availability to HND.
What's even better is the option to fly FRA-HND-LAX on LH/NH F for less miles than just FRA-HND!

It's important to remember LH F can only be booked 14 prior so I'd strongly advise pre-booking plan B just in case. $50 is small price to pay for peace of mind.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

could you do LH HND-FRA-LHR in F and then J? mixed class screenshot method?

and if you arrive in F but are connecting J do you still get access to the first class terminal?

If you connect F-J same day then can access LH F lounge. You don't even need to use screenshots, mixed class bookings are available online now.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

If you were in the unfortunate position of not being able to complete all sectors on a redemption ticket, is it generally accepted protocol to advise the airline you cannot continue so that they can remove you from the flight rather than being a no show ?

Thanks heaps

Does anyone know the usual routing LM gives you for BKK to JFK or SIN to JFK. Nothing showing on website for dates I need so thinking screenshots may be required.

it might free up the seat for another passenger to get an award or upgrade.

Usually via NRT connecting with ANA or ICN with OZ. Usually I don't have any problems finding it online. So if you can't see anything then possibly there is no availability. But if you can find flights in each sector but the connection time is >8hrs but <24hrs, of course you'll need screenshot.

Here is one example of such routing
