re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

This is a comment from VFTW by Gary:

However, Vincent (CEO of LM) tells me that they found certain awards (and certain routings) that weren’t profitable for them at the low price point at which they sell miles. He says they’ve eliminated those and they’re confident of the math. Last year I did max out on purchased miles from LifeMiles.

I wonder if he is referring to those SQ flights out of AUS and the whole IT issues. Clearly they could fix it, which they did back in Jan, but they choose to leave it the way it is....

Darn tootin'!

Not considering holding out for a 135% or 145% promo?

That'd be great but I use these work business travel and containers don't wait for a 145% promo :)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Now on Pg 422/645. It's a slog to read through this forum...

Planning a trip to Japan next year. Getting there won't be a problem, but working out possibilities for pointy end return.

Using a random date (30/3/17) I searched NRT-BKK-PER, and found the two sectors separately on TG J, but searching it as one ticket LM tells me it's sold out.

Is that the sort of thing the screenshot email would help me work around? Sold out is not at all the same as an unavailable itinerary.

For most itineraries involving connections the screenshot method is required.

You need to do this via lifemiles support (email only).

You will need (minimim) three screenshots. The first is sector A (showing availability). The second is sector B (showing availability). The third is the 'sold out' page whic is sectors A and B combined as the through ticket.

So in your case screenshot 1 is NRT-BKK, 2 is BKK-PER. 3 is NRT-PER as 'sold out'.

You attach all these three screenshots to your email along with the personal information they require (outlined earlier - name, LM account etc etc) and you wait for the confirmation email from them telling you how they will collect payment (they'll tell you either to call them, or they will call you, can be either).

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Will be stocking up on this one again. LM giving me J class for Y prices to/from Asia for a few years now.

Its approx 1700 aud for j return so about double what Y is a lot of the time

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Just booked two to CTS from PER and vv. Use screenshots.

It's in the successful thread for more details, but TG and J.

Was just to say that it can be done, quite easily.

For sure but I always book only a few days out so Y fares can be quite expensive. Plus I can sleep on the plane and be in factories straight after landing is a big plus.

I literally just sent LM a screenshot request for a flight early next week. Here's hoping they do it quickly!

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Hi just wondering about how to go about an infant booking with lifemiles? We are thinking of a J trip later this year to Europe and wondering if that means we need three tickets? On domestic flights, infants fly free don't they?
Anyone have experience with this?
Our daughter will be less than one.
Thanks

We are planning something similar, although yet to do it. My understanding from others more knowledgable is you would book the tickets you need for the two adults, and then contact the relevant airline to add infant to your booking. Which would come with some nominal fee, depending on said airline.
It shouldn't present a major issue, but hopefully someone with direct experience can confirm.

This, different airlines charge different amounts. 10% of the full fare seems to be common (could be expensive!)

If it is a single airline itinerary it should be relatively simple. The price will be 10% of the fare though which can be a bit on a business class itinerary. If multiple airlines you may have to use a travel agent as they will have to construct the ticket identical to your award booking.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Just curious. The infant is not entitled to a seat so why do you need to pay 10% of the J fare? Why wouldn't 10% of the Y fare suffice? I assume you can't book an infant in to Y, board together and if you are J then just take said infant with you in to J? It's not like the infant will have a seat assigned on the BP.

I actually have no idea! It might be something to do with how the tickets are linked. I.e. you aren't able to just buy a ticket for an infant alone it always has to be associated with an adult ticket.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

The infant has to be ticketed the same class as the adults. If parents are in J, then infant is 10% of applicable J ticket price.

The infant may take up staff time, space, facilities. Seems fair to charge for this, and some token amount for fuel weight.

For ease of following the line of discussion it would be great if one could quote what one was replying to. Thanks.

Edit: Found the booking on the other thread. I guess this was not in response to any previous discussion; just a heads up for the successful booking?
