re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Currently on a LM redemption, 1 flight down two to go and it's all too easy. Had the old Thai J product on last leg, new product on the next, and interestingly Thai online checkin was showing first flight was in C class not I, maybe I will get lucky with my TK number in the booking.

Nah...it always shows one sector C one sector I...well has for me anyway...no miles!

Thai shows C it just means you are flying business. You will see a C on the boarding pass too. it won't credit miles.

Sure, but Thai was showing C on one leg, I on the other, hence the mention, not that i expect anything.

even if you were booked in Z, J or D class it would show C at online checkin . it's a 'feature' of thai online checkin.

Last day to share (technically tomorrow given US timing)!

No, it was showing C for first leg and I for the other, as experienced by others.

Yes I know, Im saying that even if the first leg was Z, J, or D it would still show C on the FIRST LEG. but thanks for reiterating it a couple of times

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Hi All.

Just tried my first LifeMiles redemption this morning and ran in to a problem at the very end of the booking where it asked for my Credit Card details (I chose to pay for some of the booking). Turns out my bank put a hold on the transaction because it thought it might be fraud. I've cleared it up with the bank but now I'm not sure if the transaction will eventually go through, or if I need to do the whole thing again?

I did try rebooking, but the flights that were available are not available any longer. I'm guessing that the flights were put on hold as part of the failed booking, so either the transaction will go ahead and be confirmed eventually - or the seats will become available again and I'll have to hope that I get them (I've set an expertflyer alert so I should be ok).

Anyone been in this situation and know the best course of action?

Thanks in advance.

Happens all the time . You have to let your cc know your going to make a booking with lifemiles . And make sure you do it during business hours . I tried booking flights for weeks at midnight and it would never go thru. The seats will come back in a couple of days I would say try next week. All the seats my cc got declined have come back except one on SQ and I think someone took it when it did come back .

Just checked my credit card statements. I started with 0 miles in both my & SWMBOs accounts. Tried to buy 1000 with 28degrees card but it didn't go through. I switched to Visa and did the transfer thing to get it up to 16,000 in one account by the end of my current CC cycle. I checked the Visa statement & it is showing debits of $255 & the 28degrees has a $30 charge. By my reckoning the TOTAL should be $240. I've emailed LM to try & sort it out.

Unless things have changed in the past six months, or the agent I spoke to was wrong, you've got a few hoops to jump through now. It did all work out OK in the end in my case though.

I've made some European short-haul Y redemptions through LM. Can I add my NZ SG FF number to those bookings to ensure I get the benefits of *A SG or is this going to be way too hard?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Pretty sure you don't get FF points with award bookings

They're Y bookings so he's looking to use his *G status to get lounge access, potentially extra baggage etc.

I think this depends on the IT systems of the airline you have booked on. I did this for a US Air reward booking I had last year but had to logon to the system of the carrier and update there. Some I was able to some not. In particular did for United, my ICN - SFO flight was delayed so got 17,500 points plus another 4000 creditted for one of my flights. So it can be worth trying doing this!

I've had no problem with any of my LM transactions but this is a case where it may be worth advising CC in advance these transactions may be coming through!

If you can't add it on the various websites, you should still be able to get it at check in.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

After a few weeks of emails and phone calls, I have booked my return flight from Europe yesterday. Originally, the system gave us TOS - OSL - BKK - SYD in J but for some reason, TG had waitlisted the OSL - BKK sector and even after weeks of waiting, they had not released the 2 J seats we were after.

Yesterday, I then spent some time playing around with the booking engine and whilst I could not get any other flight all the way to Sydney, an option to Singapore came up. Fully expecting not to be able to book SQ's A380 in Business, I could book it and using my 28 Degrees credit card, we booked two seats on TOS - OSL - FRA (both with SAS) - SIN - (SQ). Tickets were issued overnight and all appears to be fine.

Now I need to find out about how to make seat reservations and the final leg of the journey back to Sydney: Scoot might be a shock to the system after the flights to Singapore but I might also start using Singapore as the base for future trips to Europe. Any hint on how to request seats on SQ would be greatly appreciated, and I hope that the news that SQ premium flights can be booked with LM is of interest to some: the flights are mid-September and I am very happy with flying SQ rather than TG.

On the SQ website....using your LM booking reference. There is some premium SQ available on LM although this is the first time I've heard of SIN-Europe...other than flights to AMS which are on newly reconfigured 772ER. I think a few of us probably have bookings from Aus-SIN on the 77W.

It should be noted that seat requests can only be made once the ticketing is done, which can take a little while with Lifemiles, although I got one done in a matter of hours last week.
