re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

It should be noted that seat requests can only be made once the ticketing is done, which can take a little while with Lifemiles, although I got one done in a matter of hours last week.

I know it varies but my LifeMiles SQ redemptions have all ticketed instantly.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Hi guys

Has anyone had any joy using lifemiles to South America? I've tried several cities but haven't found any availability although
I must add that I've been looking in December.

Does anyone know if its possible to cancel half a booking but not lose the rest. I've booked SIN-HNL in J for family but return leg is via Seoul and given developments there not keen to stopover (been overruled by better half). Will Avianca cancel the return leg and refund points/monies without losing first half?

I doubt the LM booking engine will be able to some up with anything complicated enough to route you through Asia so your only option would be UA MEL/SYD - LAX/SFO - somewhere in South America. As this UA route is very difficult to find availability on I imagine it would be even harder to find something through to South America, particularly in December.

You may need to look at doing 2 separate bookings - one to somewhere in North Asia and the other North Asia to South America. That might work (yes it will cost more).

This is a great program for redemptions to Asia and Europe, not great for the Americas.

If availability is still there on SIN-HNL route I would cancel the entire booking then rebook just the SIN-HNL.

It's cheaper to cancel than to change.

I wouldn't be too worried about flying in and out of Seoul at the moment but yeah if you really don't want to best to cancel and rebook. You can't cancel 'half' a booking

I redeemed most of my miles for SYD -> CDG and FCO -> SYD tickets (two separate redemptions) by Thai some three weeks ago. Everything went well including charging my 28Degrees CC and I have two emails from Lifemails with my booking reference numbers.

I verified that on 'checkmytrip', I can see an e-ticket number for both bookings.

Question I have is am I meant to get an email with an e-ticket for my bookings? If so I haven't recieved anything like that so far. Do I need to contact Lifemiles on their Australian phone number or send them an email? Thanks.

I've been in a similar situation on several occasions and have gone into the Thai office. If you don't have one locally perhaps you could call an office and get one sent.

If you can see your booking on CMT why not just email a copy of your e-ticket from there using the mail function?

Will certainly do that. I guess I was used to getting 'official' confirmation from the agency I booked with.

Also as suggested above, I will drop into Thai office as well and while there get the seat assignment completed.

Thanks

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

you do not need anything other than what you already have.

for seat assignments a simple email to your local office is all that is required, no need to go running around visiting airline offices. get the email address from the www.thaiairways.com.au. all very easy

Price is still $30....the other price is tax inclusive for countries where tax applies.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Hi,

Just heard of this program on the View From The Wing blog and thought I would come back here to ask for some information as this is a much friendlier place than many others.

One of the supposed problems that I saw mentioned is inability to have mixed class awards.

Is it like the QFF program where you can pay for a first class award ticket and have some segments in business class if first class not available all the way?

Don't mind if have to ring up to make this sort of booking as Voip phone calls are so cheap these days.

Any other pitfalls to be aware of?

Thanks,
Dale.

From what I know it just won't show you mixed class availability. You can book awards online.

can't do mixed class full-stop. Not even by calling in.

I'll never understand why they don't offer this. It would obviously be an additional revenue stream, charging people the higher-class price for mixed class redemptions. The customers want it and are willing to pay for it, other programs offer it yet they refuse. Madness!

However it's probably even more additional revenue if customers do actually book 2 separate tickets to create a mixed class itinerary. I'm not sure how many people would do it though...I'd probably be looking for a discount economy ticket for most short (flight time) connections.
