re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I'll never understand why they don't offer this. It would obviously be an additional revenue stream, charging people the higher-class price for mixed class redemptions. The customers want it and are willing to pay for it, other programs offer it yet they refuse. Madness!

might not necessarily be a higher revenue stream - it cuts out a lot of feeder or connecting flights which might be in a different class - so Asia-Europe in F is fine - but then LM don't have to pay for FRA-wherever in business class on LH/LX etc. Or even for China - they'll get you to PVG or PEK - but then no domestic flights (as they're all in F or Y unless you score the once or twice daily PVG-PEK flights)

I see lifemiles.com has had a slight upgrade to it's appearance (skin?). It's a pity they couldn't have fixed any of the many bugs with their searching and booking system!

I heard they fixed one at least (before the reskin)...apparently CMB now exists!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I wonder if they now allow 'regional' carriers like Tyrolean to be booked?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I just purchased the full amount. A$ is still pretty strong and i figure its always handy having some miles in the bank. I recently used Lifemiles for a
Syd - Bkk (Destination) Bkk - Sin - Syd redemption for a trip over Xmas & New year in Koh Samui/Bangkok inc a380 from Sin back to Syd. Ideally
I would have flown all the way to Koh Samui with TG but just couldnt get the schedule right.

Im also eyeing up a Syd - ppt redemption, be it an economy, for June/July 2014.

Er....no! Long-haul OS seems pretty much non existent these days anyway!

Thanks for that, this would be good news. Wonder if they have fixed any of the other missing locations, of course the downside is that some of the bugs are to our advantage so in this instance not sure fixing bugs is necessarily a good thing!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Looking to buy some 2x1 LMs for a wedding in USM next March. Having a play around it looks like availability BKK-USM on TG is very, very limited because USM airport is owned by Bangkok Airways, hence TG only having a couple of flights a day (vs BKK-HKT being like SYD-BNE!).

Any suggestions? LM and TG are brilliant for availability anywhere in Australia to BKK, should I just book a MEL-BKK-MEL and purchase rev tix BKK-USM-BKK separately? LM is much cheaper than USDM to South Asia.

can you get one way even to USM? (ie buy two awards - I know it's 2x booking fee but still cheaper than buying a one way ticket). Otherwise proabbly do as you suggest.

Looking at Feb 2014, there's spotty availability (2 days per week) MEL-BKK-USM but its the overnight MEL-BKK flight with no fully-flat J which I avoid. The daytime MEL-BKK flight gets us into BKK too late to connect to USM and the LM engine isnt smart enough to offer an overnight transfer/stopover.

If we go just search for BKK that gives us the options of TG or SQ....

it was either outbound OR inbound I was thinking for including the USM leg. Appreciate there's an extra fee but might be worth it. otherwise I'd be SQ'ing all the way to BKK...

PG do also have a SIN - USM service although it's relatively pricey.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I think I had the option of getting to USM all the way on life miles but then that would be a one way award and I think a long stopover
was involved.

eh? MEL-BKK on Thai is angled lie flat or angled lie flat. there is no options for fully flat.

saying that because there are only angled lie flats they avoid the midnight flight.

hopefully this will change when they start to reconfigure their old planes... MEL should hopefully be near the top of the list given no F class.
