Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Some are VERY easy to drop a leg on -- they involve a change of airport on a domestic leg for example. I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid if you did (although book as 2 x 1 ways to be sure). Others, like jumping off at a transit airport on a short international stopover would potentially raise some questions.

Wow, just played with one of your 'interest' airports. Would life miles/ *A partner be able to cancel these as a result of incorrect pricing?

What sort of playing did you do to discover these particular locations? Stick in a start city and then start choosing random airports for the destinations and see what came up?

I don't have access to this spreadsheet but the last few posts inspired me to find these interesting cities. I don't have computer programming skills either so I've just spent the last three hours plugging in cities in the lifemiles booking engine. Thankfully it was not in vain and I now have a list of 13 airports coded as Oceania that shouldn't be.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

People might want to have a look at AFF Spreadsheet. It now has a new Tab G with 21 "interesting" cities to get it started. Please add your own, feel free to improve the format and do with it what you will. I hope people find this useful.
A great addition to the spreadsheet. Thanks 777.

More or less. I had a few clues/ patterns to work from then spent a lazy few hrs yesterday trying some riffs off the theme.

I'm hoping one of our more computer literate members can put together a script and post the results to the spreadsheet. My current holy grail is somewhere in Europe, Middle East and Africa that comes up as Oceania/ Asia ... If anyone finds that PM me. :)

Working on it, just requested access to lobo76. Wish me luck :-D

Just tried all the *A airports in Africa. No Oceanian cities there.

Well you have already found somewhere that comes up as Asia that routes via Europe. Wouldn't the interest now also be in getting back, i.e. something in Oceania/Asia that is miscoded as Europe or similar?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

To get back from Europe for 17.5k how about trying xx_ and back from USA try YYY for 12.5k

It is not a particularly practical link for a lot of purposes so just trying to widen the options.

star partners can't cancel the ticket.

as to whether lifemiles can cancel, it would depend on what's in their terms and conditions, and any relevant consumer protection laws that might be available.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I have found a bunch of "interesting" destinations but i *really* don't think that posting them openly as many are starting to do is the best idea. Can we use clues or set up a spreadsheet or something? I am not against sharing with other members of this forum but i really don't want LM HQ to be able to google it. What do others think?

I think that'd be a good idea. I'm happy to host, etc...

Reading the rest of the posts, I guess my offer was/is a moot point. I did sent a PM a while back asking for access but did not hear anything back :-( What do I need to do to proof I'm legit?!

maybe because you only joined a month ago.... (although i wouldnt know)

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Thanks 777, could be good way to get to SIN and drop the rest!

The one's I found last night as not so much secrets but more so taking advantage of the zoning system. I.E AUS-Central Asia via IST etc

Wouldn't dropping a leg cancel the rest of the itinerary? Will the airline let you board the return leg? unless it's a one-way ticket and you have the return as another one-way on another carrier?

Yes and Yes, the only leg worth dropping is the last one. Not so sure on the "it has to be another carrier" bit to return. I have absolutely no stats but would suggest that people missing flights is not that uncommon and most airlines would have next to no interest in following this up.

Bear in mind its not Avianaca's whose flight you are missing so hard to see how the carrier whose flight you miss really cares that much.

I think once you failed to board a leg, the remaining ones are cancelled. It would be much better to book as a one way fare, then there is nothing lost once you get to your desired city. Book a separate leg from where you want to start your return from.

One possible complication is if the transit country does some sort of advance passenger information screening. E.g. if the country you're dropping out at does not expect you to clear immigration there. Dropping out at international-to-domestic connection points should not be a problem though.

I find it very alarming that so many people what to scam the system and the rest of the mob be happy with it. Quiet funny actually because in the past when I have done it its like I'm pure evil .

The advice I was given is LM is a gem of a program and should only be used correctly without gaming the system . Yet today I didn't read one post anyone against these tricked hidden cities . I wonder why .

I'm a free-mason, does that get me into the VA status thread? But seriously... if you are interested in pursuing LifeMiles zoning anomalies I suggest taking a look at FlyerTalk, which has large threads on the subject (assuming like me you don't have 100 posts and 1 year membership of AFF).
