re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I think I worked out most of it, but got stumped at the 'two dozen or so varieties'. Will keep thinking.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Just booked 2x Syd-Bkk-Fra on TG F; I'm after 3x!! There are 2 J seats on the same flights but how likely are Thai to open up a third F seat? Should I just book the 3rd seat in J...if a third F seat opens up later, I guess I could cancel the J seat. Thoughts?

Ps there is a 3rd F seat on the Syd-Bkk sector but not the Bkk-Fra sector so I guess the Q is how likely will a 3rd F seat be released by Thai on the Bkk-Fra sector (which is an A380)?

If another F seat doesn't open up within a day or 2 I doubt they'll release anymore,

I wouldn't have thought there would be more than 2 F award seats opened on each A380 flight anyway.

Agree...so have booked the 3rd seat in J...if another F seat opens up, it is only USD50 to cancel the J flights :)

generally speaking, if TG has more than two seats available in any cabin, the additional seats will be released immediately until the total predetermined allocation is exhausted.

after that time, additional inventory can be released and it's a matter of checking back.

i have seen a previously 'full flight' F0A0 have a cancellation about a week prior to departure and the flight went to F2A2O2... so it's possible to secure an additional seat quite late in the process (and TG is obviously willing to release award seats even on fairly full flights)

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Hmmm, ok see this new transfer bonus offer with Avianca but have no lifemiles at present...

Does anyone know if you could do something similar to the USDM share offer, where i have my account and i open a new one, i could buy 1000 miles, and transfer to them then transfer back etc to build up say 20,000 miles in one account, and what the cost of that would look like compared to just waiting for the next 100% bonus buy promo?? And would there be an issue with opening up a new account and it being eligible for transferring???

Or does anyone feel like doing some transferring who has miles sitting around?? :)

That is basically what I did. The only difference was that I didn't set up a new account after the promo began (so don't know if that will work). I simply bought 1000 points for one empty account, and bounced it between another empty account. I now have 50,000 in one, and 23,000 in the other.

As for cost v. purchasing that total during a 100% bonus promo...I don't know. I only paid full cost for 1000, and got another 72000 at half price....I think.

The cost of starting with 1000 and bouncing back and forward and buying in normal 100% promos is effectively the same at 1.5c/mile.

Mind telling me what C&P level did you book those flights? I see it at 105K per ticket, so did you use all cash or used some money? Trying to find the 'sweet' spot for these redemptions (looking at a SYD-xBKK-CDG but I so dislike those midnight departures).

Thanks. I was 99% sure of that - which is why I did it - but maths (or math) was not my best subject!!!

And just to add this, if you were able to bounce back n forth those points in those two accounts.... and then do a final bounce of those 50K and 23K to the final accounts, say your account and +1 in the end, then you would have 100K and 46K.

I doubt that will be possible as the 50k limit will be exceeded, definitely for the account you're thinking can transfer 50>100.

Yes that's right. I tried to transfer 48,000 in one transaction but it wouldn't let me. I had to drop it back to 25,000 to get 50,000 in the other account.

I am thinking something like this:-

Person A buys 5,000 ..... then shares A to Person B = 10,000

B shares 10K to A .... A has 20, B has 0.

A shares 20K to B .... B has 40, A has 0.

B shares 40K back to A .... A has 80K, B has 0.

A then shares 25K to B .... A has 55K, B has 50K.

Each have received 50K bonus in total (whilst A retains the initial 5K outright purchase).

Now A shares 50K to Person C , and B shares to Person D.

A has 5K, B has 0K, C has 100K and D has 100K. Each have received a maximum of 50K bonus.

Possible?

I agree, you would think you could do something like this. But based on my experience so far, it seems you can only receive a maximum of 50,000 points as a result of the bonus deal (as opposed to a maximum of 50,000 bonus points, plus the 50,000 original points transferred).

Happy to be proven wrong though as I'll just buy more points!

Is "O" class F award on Thai? If so, I can set up an alert on Expert Flyer for that so I don't have to keep checking manually!
