re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Is "O" class F award on Thai? If so, I can set up an alert on Expert Flyer for that so I don't have to keep checking manually!

Yes it is. O is First Class award on most of the Star Alliance. Similarly, I is for Business Class and X for Economy.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I guess Avianca doesn't have a transaction fee on these transfers so no apart from the first 1,000 miles you buy there shouldn't be any greater cost than if you just bought these miles in a outright 100% buy promo...

Ok, maybe i will see if i can open a new account and use it to bounce back and forth...

Pretty sure there normally is a rule for Avianca that excludes new acounts from their promos!

Normally is but it seems to have gone, maybe they feel a limit does a similar job?

Mind telling me what C&P level did you book those flights? I see it at 105K per ticket, so did you use all cash or used some money? Trying to find the 'sweet' spot for these redemptions (looking at a SYD-xBKK-CDG but I so dislike those midnight departures).

i'm in a similar boat to kpc - awaiting a 3rd seat to become available.. my itinerary was into LHR.

2x F = 210,000 pts total
i opted for 98,000 pts & USD$1730+153.96 taxes (USD$1883.96)

Just booked 2x Syd-Bkk-Fra on TG F

2x F =210000 pts;
I chose 105000 pts + USD1575 (cash component) + USD152.16 taxes + USD50 redemption fees.
1x J =87500 pts;
I chose 43500 pts + USD660 (cash component) + USD76.08 taxes + USD25 redemption fee.

By utilising the cash component in lieu of points means that I "bought" miles for 1575/105000 and 660/44000 which comes to USD0.015 per mile which I think is the best you can get, and what you can get with the current Lifemiles 100% sharing promo.

So as long as your cash component is "buying miles at USD0.015 per mile", you are at the sweet spot:)...I didn't use all my lifemiles as I want to keep a balance!

Hey learned lifemiles people, I have booked a trip for 2 passengers. For the first passenger in the title drop down box I selected 'MR', the ticket correctly shows MR. First Name Last Name. For the second passenger I selected in the drop down box for title 'MSS' and the ticket shows First Name MSS Last Name, is this going to be an issue? I notice now that you don't even have to select a title so it was silly me for selecting it I reckon.

Same thing happenned to me for the last 2 bookings I made. Whilst I haven't flown yet, it is just the title in the wrong place with correct first and surname so I can't see why it should be a problem. Would be interested in others' experiences.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I wouldn't worry at all about wrong titles as "Mr", "Mrs" etc doesn't appear on your passport anyway.

Some nationalities have several names eg Brazil & often tickets are booked in different variations of what appears in their passports & they don't have any issues - even to the USA.

To summarise - don't lose any sleep over it.

Thanks for the reassuring words, the reason I was asking is that from the way it's displayed it appears to have been part of the ticketed name which seems kind of odd, but yep not too concerned really, was just looking for anyone's first hand experiences.

As Oz has said, don't lose any sleep over it. It has also happened to me with flights booked by my TA. No dramas.

Cheers for that. Just working that out in my situation, I paid (maybe a bit too much) AUD$2600 for 150K points, so assuming I use your points/cash level, the cost would be say AUD$1820 + USD$1575 + USD$150 + USD$50 .... that's roughly $1820 + $1880 ... so around $3700 for 2 pax, F, one way to EUR. Not as good as USDM but at least I can redeem one way awards.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Hi,

I am looking for PER - SIN in December (week of 23 December 2013) using Life Miles. I don't have any baggage and wanted to do PER - AKL as a throwaway ticket since it is significantly cheaper but there is no availability in that week of December. Does any one have any suggestions for other throwaways that go from PER-SIN using Lifemiles?

Which class?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Award flights at Christmas, I don't think what class matters, the result is likely to be the same at this stage.

Well there is plenty of availability in SQ Y by the looks of it on the date the OP mentions. However class certainly matters if you're looking for throwaway cities.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I originally was looking at PER-SIN (with AKL being the final destination as a throwaway) for about 27K points. I can't find any other suitable throwaway for about 27K via SIN. Any help would be appreciated.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Just booked 2x Syd-Bkk-Fra on TG F; I'm after 3x!! There are 2 J seats on the same flights but how likely are Thai to open up a third F seat? Should I just book the 3rd seat in J...if a third F seat opens up later, I guess I could cancel the J seat. Thoughts?

Ps there is a 3rd F seat on the Syd-Bkk sector but not the Bkk-Fra sector so I guess the Q is how likely will a 3rd F seat be released by Thai on the Bkk-Fra sector (which is an A380)?

If another F seat doesn't open up within a day or 2 I doubt they'll release anymore,

I wouldn't have thought there would be more than 2 F award seats opened on each A380 flight anyway.

Agree...so have booked the 3rd seat in J...if another F seat opens up, it is only USD50 to cancel the J flights :)
A 3rd award F seat Syd-Bkk-Fra in TG F opened up today to my surprise

....booked it, so now to cancel the J seat booked - hope it is painless!
