I assume the 150K includes the 100% bonus? If so, I cannot buy anymore miles this calender year....by using cash and points to book flights, I seem to have bought nearly a million Lifemiles this calender year (not to mention +1s account!)

Maybe your 'brother' could open an account to assist? They can then book trips for anyone using miles they bought with any credit card....

you have a lot more faith in the LMs program than I do speculatively buying miles. I only buy them if I have a specific trip planned and know the flights are available through the LMs search engine. There is WAY too much uncertainty with their website and FF program for me to stock up on miles in the hope I can use them for specific flights later on!

No, I think the average Australian spends about half their lives saving up for the family of four Economy trip, or burning it for gift vouchers or home appliances.

QF points have their own purpose separate to all this (but this is not the thread to discuss or debate this).

One possible disadvantage of this promotion is I think you already need a AV LM account, right? Then again, the last promo, some people signed up after the announcement and I think still got away with it all........


The airlines are pressing it all - it's Christmas / Thanksgiving / Hanukkah / etc... most people have spent their money, so why not tempt them with something else?

Based on the info given above, I can buy another 75k (net 150K) for each account...decisions. decisions...weak AUD...have up til 30th Dec to decide...:shock:

As BCworld mentioned previously availability in the new US program may not be as good as we currently have it so having miles in a Lifemiles account could be a sensible move.

Duly purchased and booked.
ZRH-BKK-SYD in F here we come (though hoping for F inventory to pop up exCDG).

I've never felt comfortable stocking up if I don't already have a trip planned though as LifeMiles seems to have a poor precedent with sudden and unannounced devaluations. I simply purchase these miles and use them right away if I have a planned trip. Not optimal but works for me so far.
