Does anyone know if I can combine legs to get the cheaper fare?
For instance I search on a date for SYD - LHR and it says sold out but if I do multi-city I can get SYD - BKK, BKK - LHR and LHR - SYD but at a total cost of 255k return rather than 210k.
Can you do this over the phone?

No you can't. Over the phone will only offer you what you can see online. These are the painful quirks of LM.

Also worth noting that the LM website will also refuse to show connections over 8 hours according to 2 call centre agents I spoke to, and if you try to force it through over the phone they will book and price as 2 separate tickets even if you only plan to have a transit stop. I found this out yesterday when trying to do a CDG-BKK-SYD - no availability online but ANA shows availability on the later BKK-SYD flight leaving on the same day about 13 hours after CDG-BKK - the call centre could only book and price it as 2 separate bookings. There needs to be availability when you search for origin-destination rather than the individual sectors, and you have to be prepared to accept what's displayed online rather than try to create a bespoke itinerary or change routing to get on a preferred carrier.

Is the 150K limit for purchases the base amount or the amount including bonus points? And it definitely is per calendar year and not 12 months so that I can buy now and then next month (or next bonus) too?

The base amount seems to be 75,000 with a 75,000 bonus. A pop-up box appears if you try to buy more than 75,000. Don't know re: question 2.

interesting... i can't buy more since i bought 75+100% bonus (150k total) in August. seems like the bonus amount is included in your 'bought' miles. glad they have the miles+$ option!

interesting... i can't buy more since i bought 75+100% bonus (150k total) in August. seems like the bonus amount is included in your 'bought' miles. glad they have the miles+$ option!

that seems strange.
If they do say 150k bought then surely the freebie miles dont count?
Its not 50% off its 100% free.

Thats my understanding too and I have my 150K already booked. But then I think the USDM offer is a better offer anyway so thats taking my money this month.

Trying out a few combinations here and it seems that SQ A380 on business class is no longer bookable as a connection, only direct point to point. Any tricks to work around this?

Nope. It's been that way for quite some time. The connecting itinerary will only become available 14 days before departure.

I assume the 150K includes the 100% bonus? If so, I cannot buy anymore miles this calender year....

This is infact the case...I cannot buy anymore lifemiles this calender year as the 75K bonus I got for buying 75K lifemiles in an earlier 2:1 promo this year is counted as well in the 150K purchase limit per calender year

hmmm....what do I do now?? Just topped up mine and +1s US Airway miles account today to 250K each. My Lifemiles account has 500 miles remaining, and +1 has 60K. Based on the info given above, I can buy another 75k (net 150K) for each account...decisions. decisions...weak AUD...have up til 30th Dec to decide...:shock:

Dillemma resolved...see above. BUT my mum has an account which I opened for her a few months back ...seriously though, I'll probably sit this promo out:shock:

You're probably out of luck. For a long time LM wasn't aware that a major airport like CMB existed...pretty sure the call centre couldn't help.

A few months back I bought 20K (10K + 10K offer) & did a J award using the min points of 10K pp plus cash component of USD290.00 pp.

My LM statement stated I had used 50K as 25K pp was the all inclusive level nil cash.

Would LM consider the available points I could still purchase this year 100K or 130K.

Guess it's s bit like IHG where an award stay of 15K points plus USD70.00 becomes a 25K stay ad the money has bought another 10K points.
