Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I tried an email to support about my cancelled flight with a suggested replacement, and they said I needed to call the Involuntary Changes department. Cross fingers it's an easy swap.

When I read your post I was going to suggest emailing. I've had a couple issues with them recently and just emailed them. They've been remarkably competent with resolving the issues - one very complex with a ticketing error.

If anyone else is in this situation and your flight plans are not immediate, I'd suggest an email to 'support'. They're actually pretty switched on :) Calling on the other hand can be fustrating.

I am looking to fly EDI-HKG via IST next year. I can see the individual legs on TK, but not the combined journey. Trouble is, there are plenty of other options, just not via IST. What are my chances of the screenshot method allowing me to book with TK?

No problem JT done it a few times when other options available. Just leave lots of time in IST transit can take a while.

I would send the two screen shots of the TK flights, and the third screenshot showing TK unavailable as an option for EDI-HKG.

You can get rid of the pesky other options (so you can show them a lack of availability) by selecting a particular time of day or an airline that doesn't cover those routes...

Or just select TK, which will essentially achieve the same thing for you.

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I will be stocking up on points next 2 for 1 sale. :)

Oh, I have transited IST before and have seen the chaos first hand. But I am keen to get back to the TK lounge. ;)

Guys I am a bit rusty with LM but I sent a standard screenshot booking on Friday afternoon. I requested SYD-BKK-KIX TG F for 62500 miles.

I just recieved an itinery email from amadeus.com for SYD-HND-KIX Y !?

Not sure what to do?

Should I just ignore it and send another screenshot booking for Syd-bkk-kix F?

Thanks. I ended up with four. Will see how I go!

Did they give you a message at the bottom of the itinerary? My last one had a little note saying 'business class is not available on this sector we have booked economy'.

Sending a whole new booking request might be tricky. They have access to upcoming bookings, by name, which means they might be reluctant to create a duplicate booking for you. I'd personally respond asking them to modify the current one, reattaching the screenshots.

Happened to me few times before. They probably couldn’t find any availability in F (seats were gone by the time LM processed your request) so they gave you the next best option for your requested route.

Double check that seats are indeed not available and send another screenshot with different dates or if seats reappeared, which is very much possible with LM’s IT system, send another email to support explaining what happened with screenshots attached.

screenshots, excluding the ‘not available’ one.

I stopped sending the ‘not available’ screenshot, they don’t need it. Just send each available sector individually. For example, my recent booking TLV-FRA-MUC-HKG-BKK-SYD was total 5 screenshots.

I’ve made new booking recently using screenshots and didn’t have enough miles in my account so they sold me 50k for $US600, which is 1.20c apiece if my math is correct. That makes it significantly cheaper than buying points even at 145%. Did LM reduced their point cost recently? I don’t remember topping up being so cheap.

no reduction. you got a bargain!

thanks for the data point regarding screenshots. I was concerned four might be pushing it.

Wow, you could be on to something here boomer. Might have to try this out on one of my LM accounts that are running low.

Maybe this is normal when there is a human involved at LM. There was one time I used a new US credit card to buy miles and got a message that they needed to review the order. I got the miles a bit over 24 hours later but they credited the miles 2 times lol Ended up paying like 0.7c per mile :D

Yes!
I missed the bit at the bottom " The flights you requested are not available anymore , we took the most similar for the same day...etc"

I dont see how I can respond and say no though because the only reply I received from my screenshot booking is from amedeus.com.

Seats are available but I think I am being too ambitious with my booking. I am trying for a 24 hour layover in BKK ..thats probably why they cant see it. Might have to shorten the layover for the next attempt...lol
