Not for this particular card, but it’s easy and cheep to do a tester.

Hi team - time to share my story...

I was one of the original naughty ones who harvested a lot of extra points. I eventually received a letter saying my account would be closed. I transferred my money out and well, they forgot to close my account... So, I transferred some cash back in there and have used it fine ever since. I was not sure if I was one of the marked ones when I applied for this card but thought there is a high chance I am.

I bit the bullet not expecting to have any success. I applied as a 'non-customer' and received an instant decision saying I was conditionally approved for the platinum card. After a week and getting impatient, I rang up to follow up. As I rang on my mobile, this identified me as an existing customer before I even started talking about the credit card application. Doh!

As others have stated here there is a 5 day backlog which is due to 'EOFY'! Not sure about that but that is the line they are running with. I called early morning and appeared to get an overseas call center who weren't very helpful. So I called again later in the day and chatted with someone who was much more helpful and told me to expect a decision on Friday.

Friday came and I was called and again had a delightful, super helpful CSO assist me. Originally as I applied as a 'non-customer' I only qualified for the platinum card. At this stage I mentioned I was in fact an existing customer and then I somehow qualified for the world card. I received formal approval later that day and could instantly see the card number via internet banking and BW app.

The following day after some overnight processing, I could see the expiry date and CVV number and was able to add to google pay and start using the account without yet having a physical card. I am really impressed at this and surprised other institutions don't do the same.

I would not necessarily just assume your experience will be the same though. Each to their own.

That is unusual you can find out the CCV number on the website, often they don't have the full CC number listed on the website, I've tried it before unsuccessfully with other cards when purchasing online and haven't been bothered to find the card in my wallet or wherever else I store it. Either that or I've not looked properly.

I had an online chat with BW, told online agent that I am not a new BW customer as I currently have a BW Zero Platinum cc, but I would be a new BW Qantas World MC customer as I have not had this card before. I asked, if I were to apply for BW Qantas, would I get the bonus points? The respond was I would get the bonus points as long as I met all the eligible spending. Is this correct? I have transcript of the chat and the chat agent said that I could use that as proof, in case. I have to chase the points.

These are the T&C's I can see on the BW credit card page here Qantas Mastercard® | Frequent Flyer Rewards | Bankwest

2. Bonus Qantas Points Promotion:
The Bonus Qantas Points promotion is only available to new Bankwest Qantas Mastercard customers who apply from 24 May 2019 until 31 August 2019, are approved and meet minimum spend requirements in the first three months from account opening. The number of Bonus Qantas Points are: 50,000 if your Card is a Bankwest Qantas Platinum Mastercard and you spend a minimum of $3,000 on Eligible Purchases; and 90,000 if your Card is a Bankwest Qantas World Mastercard and you spend a minimum of $6,000 on Eligible Purchases. Bonus Qantas Points are subject to change. Bonus Qantas Points will be transferred to your account within five months of account opening. You are not eligible for this promotion if you upgrade or vary your existing Bankwest credit card to a Bankwest Qantas Mastercard.

I suppose it comes down to whether you can trust the chat. I have contacted their chat line a number of times for the BWW card, and found them reliable. If I were you, I would go for it.

Apparently I’m average with EQ due to “Number of credit applications with multiple credit providers”.

I think it says that on everyone's dashboard as a 'potential' negative. I have it and I don't churn much at all.

EQ seems tough. I am mid 600s but 800+ in creditsavvy

BTW what's the minimum limit for this card?

Has anyone been successful with this card with a EQ score below 700? I'm on the limit of very good (727, 726 is cut off) and am not sure whether to apply or wait another month?

Yep, me, take those 'scores' with a large pinch of salt. As in an earlier message, EQ have me as 'Average' due to "Number of credit applications with multiple credit providers", and I generally have no issues when applying for things. Was approved instantly for this one.

My score was 686 with EF when I applied and all was good. I am not sure if this was due to them processing me as an existing customer as a post further upthread mentioned a score like this was an automatic decline...

Call received and the person contradicted earlier advice and said it was in fact credit rating. And they (the whole) bank have no discretion over this. As mentioned they used Equifax and my score is 688 (towards the upper end of good) and they mentioned it must be Very Good.

I don't think I've ever had a score of Very Good with Equifax and has always been around high mid 600's (due to many many credit cards).

Be interested to hear if there have been any other approvals with Equifax scores Good or lower?

I just checked my rating, and I'm average 570, due to Number of credit card applications with multiple credit providers. Applied for this one anyways, so lets see what happens. Not expecting miracles :)

I thought I'd try my luck and applied today, with my Eq score of only 654, but was only conditionally approved for $6000. Oh well.

I was conditionally approved as well - at the time of application. I think the conditional approval takes into account only the information you provided in the application. I would think that they would subsequently do a credit check and the payslips, to do final approval ? Or do we think that the conditional approval has already taken into account one's credit score ?

My email said conditionally approved subject to supplying proof of income. I took that as everthing else was done and as long as I have proof of my stated income I would be OK. Waiting the 5 day backlog now and will call them tomorrow.

Nothing takes into account the 'score' you see from Equifax, the Bank generates its own score based on the info you provide and their own criteria. The scores you see from the CRAs are an indication, but ultimately worth no more than three random numbers I write here - 999.

The conditional approval will be based on the content of the application and a hard pull of your credit file, and an assessment of the actual content provided within (payment history, limits, amount owed, etc., not any score). They'll then ask you to prove your income and if everything matches, all should be well.

They contacted me to provide two payslips and, for some reason, a copy of my passport (a scan was fine). Then the card turned up, with the exact limit they told me I'd conditionally get on screen when applying (the condition being that you earn what you say you do, I guess).

Mine was an automatic decline. Their explanation was my credit score which is inconsistent with other responses on this thread, so I'm guessing they were spinning me a story.

The bank's use of the term "credit score" could easily just be a shorthand way of saying "data contained within your credit file [does not match our lending criteria]".

Apply. Conditional approval subject to verification.

Email in 2 x payslips as requested.

Get emails daily to remind me to send in payslips.

Call after a few days and told. Oh that's an automated system and even when you send in payslips it sends them out as a courtesy.

Ask "can you check and insure you have them" Told no can do as they go to evaluation team which is another department but we can turn off the emails if you have already sent them. We are experiencing heavy demand and may take 5 days to process by the evaluations team.

Wait 5 days. Call customer service again. How is my application going. Checks file. It appears we dont have your pay slips. I check email sent file and email address and all is as directed.

I am then asked to resend them. I do so then ask "Can you please check that you received them".

Told no can do as they go to the evaluations team. I ask "can I call them to check". No. Can you call back in 48 hours and there MIGHT be a note on your file saying we have them.

Citibank(esque) in their systems by the looks. Very poor so far.
