Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

For Optus, one transaction every 20 minutes seems to be working for me. Not sure if there is any way to improve the throughput since Optus made the changes.

I tried a few, but the one I'm using now is Mouse Recorder Premium Mouse Recorder - Macro Recorder - Windows Automation

There were a few things I really liked about this one - it made it really easy to edit the resulting macro and there is a "wait for pixel colour" feature that I've been using to make sure the page is fully loaded. You need to add this in at the edit stage after you've recorded your macro.

Legend, thanks mate!

I couldn't work out how to get iMacro to work for me, but Mouse Recorder Premium worked 1st time without issue!
It's was so satisfying to see the transactions going through automatically whilst I had breakfast!

I can get 1 transaction of the same value every 10 minutes up to 10 transaction within 3 hours, the 3 hours restarts after the last transaction.

However, what I do is increase the $0.01 increment every transaction to get 10 transactions quickly, restarting 3 hours after the last transaction, can still easily get 50 transactions a day (if my computer doesn't restart).

No worries! Glad you got it working. Incidentally I played around a little more with iMacro and discovered that if you use experimental recording mode it seems to work quite well.

Has anybody else had the problem of additional $1 transactions appearing on their BW transaction list?

As you can see below, for every $0.01 payment I make an additional $1 payment appears on the BW transaction list. But only the $0.01 payments appear on my Telstra statement.

This is a new account so I'm hoping it will sort itself out. It also has the effect of limiting my transactions to 25 per day.

That's not a transaction, it's an authorisation, by no means all authorisations turn into an actual transaction. But, yes you have to wonder why this is happening.

Yes I think there are two limits, 1 per 10 minutes for transaction of the same value but 10 in 3 hours of any value.

You could use schedule to start your macro every 3 hours (which is what I do).

Good observation Burmans. I'd be very interested to know if anyone else has encountered the same problem.

I went in to branch on Saturday morning and asked to upgrade my card to the platinum version. The very lovely lady who assisted me with my query confirmed to me that she has not and will not cancel my card, I can keep both cards in my purse and use either of them willy nilly and they will both continue to earn QFF points. Perfect! Now I can pay $1 per day off my Telstra bill and earn 500 QFF per day :)

It's still going to take me a loooooooong time to earn my First class ticket to Europe even if I am earning 15k points per month. I think 2016 may be the year of applying for credit cards with QFF sign-up bonuses :)

Similar story when I went in branch to upgrade my wife's account about 30 min ago. The lady ordered a new card and specifically said the old card will continue to work. Told us to come in to cancel the old card when the new one arrives. Yep, we'll be doing that! ;)

For sure you will!

Received my statement for the period 9-15 December. I suppose that once a certain number of transactions is hit, a statement is generated?
But this statement has zero points earned for balances and zero for transactions.
Despite there being Telstra payments made on 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th, and 15th.
Some days payments are still being merged (i.e. 12th and 13th), but why no points? Are they only given on the monthly statement?
I feel like this is probably a silly question and the answer is that yes they are only give out monthly, but want to get onto any issues early.

Yep it just auto generated a statement but points will only post once a month..all good.

Yes first statement in the month shows the points earned in the previous month for both transactions and for account balances. Any subsequent statements during that month do not show any earnings.

Statement generation seems to be based on number of transactions. I get frustrated if I receive a statement on 30 or 31 of the month as I have to wait 5-6 more days to see my previous months earnings (first world problem I know :))

Points will show on the first statement of each month (whatever date it happens to be generated) and will be credited to your QFF account on the first working day on or after the 5th of each month. EG points were credited on 7th Dec as 5th was a Saturday.

Will need to re read all 28 pages tonight!

...

Ah, if only it was still that easy. Only 28 pages in this thread. Those were the days.

Now, if only we could have an FAQ somewhere, that answered the common questions like, why doesn't my first statement show any points!

Just to add that the first month or so also looks weird if the first or last days fall on a weekend. From memory of a conversation with Bankwest rewards, if the 1st or 2nd is a weekend day then it counts in the previous month, where as if the last days are weekend days they get counted the next month.

This is ridiculous.

How many different ways can you say, that a statement will always finish on a WA business day and the only statements that will show points, are the first statements issued each month, on or after, the first (WA business day) of the month?

I don't read my statements these days and the points keep coming on in. We all value our time differently but at 5points a transaction I just cant see the point of spending time trying to reconcile to maybe find a couple of missed transactions and then having to chase them up over 10 points, seriously!
