Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Bankwest Transaction account 10K QFF promo [Expired 18/7/14]

Paying bills in $0.01 increments is not abuse?

Apologies. I guess I was wrong.

i think it is a flaw in the system rather than abuse. please dont flame me as im not into this macro affair. just my personal opinion and it is the corporate firm's responsibility to plug the loophole

In regards to some members being blacklisted by optus, was the following message shown when paying online:

Your transaction has been declined. Please contact your financial institution.

Telstra is having problens after 30 or so payments (try again later), I then needed to record optus from the start, which tells me declined!

That error message gets shown when you've hit 50 transactions. Blocked accounts show "your payment amount exceeds the maximum amount allowed by Optus, please try again"

Have people begun receiving their 10k points yet? I created my account on 17 July, and have yet to receive =(

I created mine on 23 June, so it's July, August and September for the points, which will hopefully arrive in a month's time.

Reminds me of this:
Brilliant. Where did you find that gem?

I am surprised you think my scam was worthy of search and special mention.

Mine is such an amateurish effort compared to writing scripts/macros to pay bills in $0.01 increments, bypassing the software detecting duplicate payments and having cards suspended/cancelled while you are overseas as the payment pattern is deemed to be fraudulant.

Yep. You've done well linking the 2 together.

The software detects duplicate payments but does not stop you.

It just asks if you're sure you wish to proceed.

It would take Telstra less than 1 minute to increase the minimum spend.

Not quite as confident of Telstra's IT capability as you but I do agree they could do this relatively easily. It is interesting in all this that Bankwest has not been heard, I suspect they are actually quite happy with the high level of transactions!!

So its ok to misrepresent others through using their name and email for your benefit, however paying a phone bill which is well within the terms and conditions is abuse?

Also, i have no intention to take this card overseas, that's what the citibank card is for.

You'll need to come up with a better argument.

Same, I tried iMacro, clicked record, made a payment which went through, saved it and tried it again. The replay didn't work :(
I don't know how to write code so I figured that would be the easiest way... not in my case!!
Any help would be appreciated (may be best to PM).

And the cards failing overseas was due to a faulty batch, not because of people paying their phone bill.

Argument. I don't want to argue with you.

I put a point forward. People don't agree with that point so they are jumping down my throat. That's OK though. Should never stir a hornets nest.

Hypocrite? I smoked heavily for 25+ years. Tomorrow (actually today) is exactly 11 years since I gave up. I can't stand cigarette smoke or smokers who think they have a right to pollute the air I breathe. Hypocrite?

So someone drags something out I posted a long time ago trying to put me down. Well done. Situation is different. Opinions change.

Have fun abusing the promotion.

I will start out by saying that this is not directed at JohnK, but a few times in this thread people have referred to the 5 points per transaction as a promotion. It's not a promotion - it's the way the account is structured. Anyway, burmans poo-pood a previous poster that intimated that the issue was going to be with the retailer and not the bank, so since that discussion was unilaterally declared not worthy of conversation by burmans, I'll say no more.
