Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Don't you also talk about "manners" quite often?

Not sure why you felt the need to put yourself forward as the arbiter of abuse here. As with many a thread here, this one probably would have been generally more pleasant without your participation.

So someone drags something out I posted a long time ago trying to put me down. Well done. Situation is different.
Yes situation is different, what you were doing was against the Terms & Conditions yet you went ahead anyway, i.e. abused the promo. In this case what is being done is being done within the Terms and Conditions. Yes, we agree, thats different.

You missed the point again.

What I did 5 years ago to a promotion is irrelevant. Just like smoking for 25 years is now irrelevant as a non-smoker.

Keep putting me down if it makes you feel better.

Guys, are the personal attacks really necessary? Keep them in private please.

The facts are, the Bankwest Transaction account allows consumers to make 50 transactions per day, with no minimum spend, in order to earn 5 QFF points per transaction. Bankwest will close an account if it determines you are 'abusing' it or break T&CS

I make 50 transactions per day, all manually (can't be stuffed using scripts), to earn the points that Bankwest are offering. IMO, this is not 'abuse' of the account. I have acted in accordance with T&CS and am using the account to it's full potential.

I will continue to use Bankwest for as long I have the ability to make $0.01 payments. It really is up to Optus and Telstra to up their minimum payments.

I'm going shopping today and am planning on making multiple part payments; the option is there to make $0.01 payments which I will be using.

I look forward to points crediting monthly and hopefully the 10k bonus appearing in October, I opened the account in May, have deposited $2k monthly so I should see 10k appearing soon. This account is definitely assisting me in building a healthy points balance.

Please don't take this as a slight, as it's not meant to be.

I'm all for gaming the system - I do try it as much as I can. But, I'm assuming you're standing at Coles/Woolies self checkout, paying stuff out in $0.01 increments? Don't you feel a little self conscious, standing there, ringing stuff in at $0.01? :P

Not at all. I did 20 transactions today at Coles Self service checkout, probably took 2 minutes maximum.

I do the self service at Coles and Woolies - I have been asked by the Coles lady but she knows me now and we talk about best use of QFF points (she did not know about the oneworld 140K redemption) - I think she might be interested in the new 10K offer on this card. I also like the deals on the back of the shopper dockets. I am very quick on the checkout buttons now (I like my macro though)

Read on here that platinum card can do 100 transactions per day. Just got the platinum card and tried it out for the first time today, stopped after 50 transactions. Can anyone confirm that they are getting 100 per day from the platinum?

Would also like to know the answer!

Platinum is only allowing 50 for us, but we have managed to get the basic ones to still do 50 per day each. (For a few or so days, basic one failed after the platinum was used x50).

Got an email today congratulating me on earning the 10,000 points.

Also an 'exclusive offer' for a Mastercard with 30,000 bonus points after $1500 spend. This is available on all cards normal, gold and platinum.
Thinking of taking up the normal card as it has the lowest fee - $100
Poor point earn on all three, but no forex fees on the plat card if that floats your boat.
Bankwest Qantas MasterCard® - Frequent Flyer Credit Card

I've not seen this mentioned before, but haven't been following the thread closely.

I chose not to receive a card when I opened the account so that may have something to do with this offer.

Damn, that was a waste of time. Thanks for letting me know.

Dont let it be a waste of time YET!

There might NOT be any $6 fee IF you fail ro deposit $2000 / $4000 per month...

Person we spoke to said that all you seem to lose are the bonus benefits like the warranty and things.

Also said it would be hard for them to actually find out!

Also: some pages back, a member quotes they only paid loke $500 each month, with no charges each month.

Just applied for the 30,000 QFF Points credit card promo.
Instantly approved for the platinum card which I dont want, just the $99 basic card is fine for points harvesting.

If you do apply for this card and don't want the platinum, just look on the LH side where you can select card type and credit card limit changes and go from there.

Start to finish took ~ 5 minutes so not a bad way to earn some points. All I need to do now is spend $1,500 when the card arrives.

Good luck everybody.

It's tempting. But I'm not sure my credit score should be taking a beating at this stage.

Does anyone have an idea how long it takes to actually get a credit rating? I couldn't get a QFF BW card (I've only recently applied for Permanent Residency) as I didn't have a credit rating, but I've taken out a 28 Degrees card in July for international travel. I'd rather go with BW if that's possible but I'm not sure how long it takes to – so to say – get into the system. Would it be unwise to apply for another credit card (and cancel the 28 Degrees once I get BW)?

Maybe I could just try applying online (I've been declined before due to the lack of a credit rating) and see if that works. I should be getting the 10,000 next month, right in time to go for the 30,000.

Cheers.

If you have 28 degrees card you probably DO have a credit rating but not necessarily a good one.

I was hoping that getting a card would trigger a credit rating (as I don't have a loan or mortgage or anything similar). And they let me know that they didn't find my credit rating, but that it doesn't affect my application. Maybe now, after having paid a couple of bills, there is something floating around there.

Local council today contacted me and threatened action if I continued to make small transactions when paying my council rates. They had previously contacted me and wished me well with the Bankwest promotion. Guess they have now changed their minds.

What sort of action?
