Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Same for me, not in a rush to get the points, but still anxious that they haven't posted yet (expecting over 17k according to my statement).

I wouldn't be worried yet. It doesn't seem like anyone's points have landed.

just checked my estatement:

I had only been transferring for about 3 days prior to this but racked up 100 transfers from telstra like this:

Cause for alarm?

Regarding Coles & Woolworths ...

I'm now doing 99 - 149 transactions per day !

'50' transactions per day ?

Is my card working 'different' ?

I found, I can do 49 - 50 ( per card ) at say Woolies, then go down the road to Coles, and do another 49 - 50, and my cards still accept the $0.01 transactions ??

Tomorrowm I'm going to attempt 200 transactions per card ...

Interesting, are you doing any online payments (ie. Telstra etc)?

This is because Bankwest in conjunction with some merchants such as Coles, Woolies, Maccas, 7-11, that I have experienced, seem to be auto and instantly approving payments, not even checking balances or card limits, then processing the payments some days later. I'm yet to work out how this affects Optus payments.

I am certain somewhere back in this thread, someone clarified that it was 50 transactions per merchant per day, not just 50 per day. Too hard to go back looking through this thread to find it though.

Nup, it's as benjy said. Big supermarkets don't process paypass live so the bank does not know you have made 50. Once the paypass is done BW is obligated to process it whether you have hit 50 or not (and whether you have money or not as well).

Above statements would seem to be correct.
The balance on one of my cards ( well, MY card, as other is actually partner's ), does some odd things overnight.
Balance went from positive $xx_ to negative $xx_, and I then had the next 48 / 49 Coles transactions showing each was a 'minus' figure.
By rights, my account was in default, and those transactions should not have been allowed ...

This seemed to be, because over the weekend, I did X number of lots of '50' transactions, and there was an automated debit to be deducted from the account.

Anyway, I did successfully use both of the cards I have to 'play' with, to get 196 transactions per card, in the one day.

If there appears to be no limit, I wonder if this is actually going to produce the QFF points from BW ??

I've also determined my own 'rules' ( to help lessen the 'issues' that have arisen thus far ):

Only do 98 transactions on a Woolies / Coles Self-Service machine - they tend to 'crash' at 99.
If you do 'crash' a machine, a grey / blue screen appears, which indicated the machine is 're-booting'. This should could take a few minutes, and a receipt may also be triggered. If you get a receipt, you can 'go', and not have to wait for the machine to come back on line ...

Certainly be wary of 'busy' periods. People tend to become 'inpatient' when they are watching you 'play' with the machine they think they are 'entitled' to use ... sometimes, I just do 10 - 20 transactions, then 'go around' again.

Just curious - where are you shopping (suburb) and on what days & times?

My understanding of the 50 limit is to do with QFF - the 5 points per transaction only applies to a maximum of 50cper day. You can do as much as you want, but won't score any more points. Fine, if you are only after vouchers at the back of the docket!

thats what i thought too.

Well, that's a very good point ...

You are saying, that I can rack up 'hundreds' of transactions a day ... but I'm only going to get a max of 250 points a day ( per card ) !

I'll have to wait for my Statements to come through, and count everything up, in order to say if that's has what's occurred.

Thanks for drawing that to my attention. ( did something like 300 per card today ... )

For the other question ...

I'm on the middle to upper North Shore ( Sydney ). Times ? Variable. I don't think it matters where you are.

I haven't read through the last few pages but points credit around 5th of each month for the previous month. Shouldnt you have some from October that you can reconcile against? Or have you only just signed up for the card?
