"very strange" ??

Me ???

Gee, I thought the whole notion of 'chasing points' was a "very strange" ...

This "very strange" behaviour seems to be quite common on this Forum ...

There are many different types of "very strange" here. I didn't think my "very strange" was that much different to the "very strange" behaviour of others - such as setting up computer programs to manipulate various systems etc.

... and as for people booking and paying for airfares to travel from 'A to B', simply to obtain points and airline 'status credits' ... well, how "very strange" is that !!

Maybe someone should write a submission to the American Psychiatric Association - who produce the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Psychiatric Disorders ( DSM ) - and present this "very strange" behaviour for analysis, AND possible listing for the c.2020 DSM-V(R) edition ??

Mmmm, how might this "very strange" behaviour be listed ??

Psychotic disorder? No, requires too much organised planning.
Personality Disorder ? Perhaps. There are some 'traits', however there's no indication of overt anti-social activity, like smashing the machine, so nobody else can use it !!
Anxiety Disorder? Mmmm, maybe.

After thinking about this, I may be 'suffering' from 'Merchant Rewards Points Accumulation Anxiety Disorder' ...

I will obviously need to address this "very strange" behaviour before it gets 'out-of-hand'.

Anyway, I have to go now ... heading off to Coles !! And I have to check my balance before I go, and ...

Yeah, keep it up. Let us know how it goes, at least a daily update with your Coles visits please

'funny ha-ha' - not 'funny strange' ... ( I hope )

Another thing I've noticed ...

The 'rounding' process activates the 're-boot' sequence on Coles machines.

To avoid this, stop at say two transactions from the end, and then finalise with one last payment.

Eg. Paying for $2.00 milk @ $0.03 per transaction. When you get to the last $0.05, pay as $0.05 - don't do another $0.03, as the machine will start the 'rounding' process, and either 'lock' or start to reboot. This attracts attention ...

when this happened the other day, the attendant asked to see the receipt. Doesn't sound like much, but it holds you up, and you then get 'identified' and 'watched' closely on your next visit.

Does anyone know how I can upgrade from the standard card to the platinum card using their online banking portal? I prefer not to request this face to face in a branch again.

Only do 98 transactions on a Woolies / Coles Self-Service machine - they tend to 'crash' at 99.

Holy **** 99 transactions is dedication, I just stood there and did 20 for the first time at Coles and it felt like it went forever, I couldn't handle listening to that 'payment accepted' voice prompt for 99 cycles. If those machines were silent I could probably do it but jesus they are irritating. I can see me throwing an extra 20 transactions in whenever I actually need to go to the supermarket to buy something, together with my 50 telstra payments a day, but you need to have serious dedication to go and do 50+ coles transactions a day!

Update:
After my first batch of 20 transactions at Coles, I ran the imacro for telstra about 10 minutes later and got limited to 30 transactions.
Looks like its restricted to 50 in total and the Coles ones register in real time also.
I think i'll stick to my 50 a day for me.

Online chat maybe?

I'm trying to avoid any interaction with an employ to minimise the chance they either deactivate my existing cards and/or see the 1c transactions and cancel my account completely. So online chat is s no go unfortunately.

Haven't you backed yourself into a corner? Anything like an upgrade of a credit card will probably have human intervention somewhere along the application and/or acceptance process. Looking at your history on the initial card will send up red flags and have them investigate.

That said, any of the members on this thread who are doing this should whilst the sun is still shining, because the high volume of small transactions will get on an exception report.

I'm not sure if an upgrade/downgrade of the debit card does have any interaction. There's certainly no approval involved as its not credit. My observation of when I have asked for it to be done in branch is that the staff click a few buttons and then the process is automated - new card issued and sent out. The only human interaction I can see in the process is someone inserting the letter into an envelope. I could be wrong though of course. I recall someone mentioning they did it online earlier in the thread.

No no doubt the party will end at some point so yes it is just about making hay while the sun shines. If I can obtain a fourth card with minimal risk of it being noticed then I want to do it.

.
This started just over a month ago when they altered some software. It used to be that if you had 2 cents left to pay then it would simply round down and give you the receipt. After the software change it requests you to pay the 2 cents but still, for some reason, gives you the receipt as though there is no more to pay.

If you try and pay the 2 cents then the machine crashes. It may have done already even if you don't try and pay.

It'll definitely get picked up. I guarantee you BW know we are doing it. It'd have come up on reports from day dot.

They won't change the promotion, they'll kick us out of the bank in all likely hood. It'll just take some time for them to do it.

They have to weigh the amount we are losing them against the cost of FOS complaints which anyone who is kicked out will lodge (right guys).

I've obtained all my cards using their internet banking.

Have my account cancelled ?

Well, I'm willing to run the risk ...

I'm desparate to get enough points needed for Business upgrades on my flights to / from Gallipoli in April / May.

I just need to keep going with this, and get my total up to what I need - for what I want ...

'They can take my cards - but they'll never take my freedom !! ' ( wearing my kilt ... )

I'd hazard a guess that it's only a small number of people using this card to its full advertised advantage, most of them probably present in this thread!

BW would be aware... But the losses they're currently facing probably aren't worth the battle to stop (for now).

You are right, otherwise we would have run into others at the terminals doing the same thing!

What status with QF are you? I hope the upgrade requests come through.... lot of work for something that is quite uncertain

No, not just cancelled.

Permanently banned from holding BW products. Forever.

I'm doing this to grab One World RTW tickets. I've fetched just over 100k so far and ramping up.

I doubt they can legally ban us for life.

As far as most here understand, we are going exactly by the rules!

1) BW say per transaction (no minimum $ per transaction in rules)

2) merchant/bill has a minimum transacion of cheap cheap cheap....

So we aren't doing anything wrong.

Let the ACCC troubles (for them!) begin if they were to blacklist all of us (or even a few of us!).

Yeah I think you're safe regarding a life ban (really... Who cares anyway. It's bankwest!), but they could close this particular account without grounds as they're entitled to do. Just as you'd be entitled to open another.
