Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Mind you at least in Australia I haven't seen the self service mandatory, in the UK last year quite a few if the Sainburys and Tescos made you do the self scan.

Mandatory by stealth i.e. most of the time only one of the other 30 odd checkouts staffed.

Received recent email from BW ...

They have assigned a 'special case manager' to me.

Message included: " ... now that your case has been referred to the FOS ... I will be providing input from Bankwest ...".

I'm getting:

I was getting this error this morning as well. Not sure if it is a solution or whether it was pure coincidence but I clicked the "pay my bill" link contained on the page just under the error text (little icon with blue link text next to it) and then ran the macro again and it worked. Straight through 250 transactions without a hitch.

For some reason Telstra sent me a change of email billing address email today, in the middle of my 1¢ payments.

The only problem is I haven't changed my email address with them for years.

Has anyone else had anything similar happen?

Yeah, except I had an email (last week), in between transaction 4 & 5 that confirmed that my request for direct debit had been confirmed. This would be somewhat reassuring except for the fact that I had not applied. I tried to go in and remove it but to do so requires entering the original direct debit information. Think I will ignore. Worst case I foresee is I will have to operate my account in credit.

Telstra had an outage yesterday, affected accounts, networks etc. Probably explains why payments weren't working.

So, just to clarify ...

The people like myself, who used Coles / Woolies self-service to do as little as one cent transactions got 'kicked out' ...

but the people who are doing one cent transactions via online facilities - they are NOT being closed down ??

The people who have 3, 4 or 5 cards ... are they all registered to the same address ?? ( perhaps different names ).

Is there really ANY difference to BW's interest, in whether the transaction is manual ( at say Coles ), or online ?

I really would of thought, the online users would have 'gone down' first, before those who paid for goods in person ...

I think it's something to do with coles processing "offline" and needing some manual intervention.

Those running Telstra etc run 50 transactions until they're declined as it hits the bankwest limit.

Yeah, but in the end, the tally of transactions of small value was what BW quoted to me.

They stated ( words to the effect ), that their issue revolves around transactions split down to multiple small transactions, 'that would normally be paid as a whole'.

Yep manual processing by definition needs someone to spend time and effort on doing it and hence costs the bank money.

Just discovered something weird.

100 payment receipt emails from Telstra yesterday, but only 93 payments according to Bankwest's online banking (all pending transactions).

It'll be a few days before I know if one is currently wrong or both are correct (7 1¢ payments not recognised by Bankwest = 35 QFF points lost, even though Telstra thinks the 7¢ was paid. I'd prefer the points.)

Or because the number of transactions significantly exceeds the card limit of 50 per day.

I often have a 7 transaction discrepency. It normally fixes itself. I don't care enough to complain though when it doesn't... lol.
