Best QF Status Run options after 1 July 2014

Yeah just a quick and dirty one incase in desperate need of 40SC. That seems to be the walkup price. Though I just did another quick calculation.

SYD-CNS-SYD should net 30SC in discount economy. (Using JQ as an example here)

20 round trips would be enough to get SG again assuming that no are flights are taken during the period. Cheapest flight is $139 + $35 for Max Bundle. $335 return so a total of $6700 to retain SG.

What date are you looking at for that Max bundle? $35 for the Max bundle is cheap for 30SCs one way (For Aussie based runs anyway).

This is the point of my question. It's too cheap for a max bundle and the earn is wrong. It is probably a plus bundle.

Too expensive for a plus bundle. They're $28/29 depending on which direction you're going between CNS-SYD. Unless they've up'ed the price again within 6 months....

It's closer to a plus than a max bundle, which run around $80.

I just checked some random dates in July/August and seems to be a typical $28 or $29 for the Plus Bundle on JQ. At $260-ish ($520 for return) for the one-way JQ Max bundles I can't see JQ being rushed off their feet with lots of takers!

Its instructive that the $139 + $29 each way fares on JQ earn more SC than the $209 Red-eDeal fares each way on QF direct flights for the same dates SYD-CNS-SYD. That pretty much tells us how QF loyalty want you to fly......

They rated higher. Economy vs discount economy, but they earn the same.

My apologies and to clarify (all post 1-July), considering, for SC earn only - so the JQ base fare SYD-CNS with the plus bundle earn at the "Discount Economy" 15SC earn rate? And QF Red-eDeal earns SC at "Discount Economy" rate of 15SC for a SYD-CNS leg? Or have I mucked that up?

Probably only matter if you're flying TT from the East Coast. As discount econ earns 20 and econ earns 25.

Was wondering where to post this...either under "best status run option", "joyce why perth had to go" or one of the numerous threads on QF mis management, but chanced looking at the QF PER-SIN "seasonal" routes in July at J return and saw return flights at $1,698......that equates to 160SC under the new table by my reckoning...wish they had priced it at that before they cancelled the daily service....

Not that. For domestic flights economy and discount economy earn the same.

we need a new sticky for this topic imho

I couldn't agree more. The new fairer and simpler system is ironically going to lead to more and more people asking if they've done the points and SC calculations correctly. A separate thread is definitely needed for these such queries.

Hi, I'm in need of 235 SC's by end Sept, preferably domestic, ex-SYD. Any suggestions from any of you kind folk?

My wife is in a similar position needs 220 by november, needs to be domestic, can be multiple flights over the next few months, but needs to be a cost effective route(s).

Enhancing and Simplifying your New Year…

TPA/MCO-CLT/MIA-DFW-CUN. Best I’ve found is 190 SCs for $277 USD @ $1.45 per SC.

For those arriving in LAX, I’m seeing reasonable positioning flights allowing for early QF arrival and 2hr transit window for an onward ticket– LAX-ORD-MIA-MCO 250 SCs for $573 USD @ $2.29 per SC.

Both routes available in reverse throughout the year with some prices 10-20% higher depending on dates.

But if Orlando is your thing, same day returns available MCO-DFW-ORD and vv 180 SCs for $350 USD @ $1.94 per SC.

Oh wow that's some pretty good runs there!

MCO was a good destination for the better runs some years ago - looks like it's back on deck ...
