Can anyone help me clear up the new SC earn on a few post July flights please? I need to figure out if I will requal SG or should do a with paid flight somewhere.

I have PER-SIN 3K plus bundle prior to July- 25sc
SIN-PER 3K plus bundle post July (20?)
PER-SYD QF post-July discY (20?)
SYD-MEL-PER disc Y post July (30?)
PER-SIN-PER 3K plus bundle post July (40?)
BKK-HND J on JAL post July
HND-CTS in H class (economy?) post July on JAL (110 together?)

Can anyone please help with my maths, for any of the sectors and I can put it together? I really hate the simpler table!

From my calculations you've got the SC's right.

Ok, after all of the above I will need a further 55 SCs for SG. I think I should requal this year to give me time to think about my options with regards to QF.

Any thoughts on best paid (not points) SC run from Perth for 55+ SCs? I'm thinking 3K PER-SIN, SIN-KUL-SIN, SIN PER with an overnight in SIN. Does anyone know if the same plane continually turns around in KUL, as the connection time is very short (arr 1910, dep 1950).

This would cost me around $300+$120+hotel+missed work on the Saturday. But I gain a weekend in SIN.

Any other thoughts otherwise? Thanks! :)

Another thought- is it still possible to F lounge on a JQ domestic flight? My father is WP and wants to have lunch in the F lounge.

Is this do-able from PER in a day?

Ah, it's a Monday thing, and from MEL? Thanks Markis10.

It's an option at least, will be booking this for after exams (well, I hope I make it to exam 3, which requires passing exam 1).

Hmm looking at some options just to top up the SC balance.

MEL-SYD on JQ Starclass. $399 + $80 Max bundle should net 40SC after 1st July?

Not sure on the SC calc, but cost-wise that seems very poor? It is, however, quick and easy, so I guess it depends on your needs.

Yeah just a quick and dirty one incase in desperate need of 40SC. That seems to be the walkup price. Though I just did another quick calculation.

SYD-CNS-SYD should net 30SC in discount economy. (Using JQ as an example here)

20 round trips would be enough to get SG again assuming that no are flights are taken during the period. Cheapest flight is $139 + $35 for Max Bundle. $335 return so a total of $6700 to retain SG.

Though I think the cheapest would have to be doing AVV to SYD return 30 times.

Works out to be $111 return with SC coming at a total of $3300 to retain Gold.

I agree, especially as VA Plat can be had for less.
Not all 'WP" status's are equal. It can be reasoned, the benefits of QF WP are somewhat greater than those for VA WP.

In any case, unless one cannot get to the USA, SG can be retained for under those figures.

Today I flew A First JFK to MCO for under $300 and earned 90 SC's .. after June that flight would still earn 90 SC's. Getting to the USA can cost maybe $1300 on sale and on Qantas earn at least 110 SC's and the four [SUP]~[/SUP] by connecting to an East Coast gateway.

Of course Velocity points/cost earn and burn ratios are becoming significantly better than the same for Qantas.

Not all PLATS are equal.

I dont believe anyone is saying they are, just questioning why you would spend $3300 or thereabouts on Gold when WP with VA is attained from scratch for less expenditure. Even if your locked in to flying QF because of a work contract, the value of SG versus QP if we keep it in house is questionable for the outlay IMHO.

I was questioning that as well - merely pointing out a basic example of how such SC earning methods are not cost effective along with other issues such as WP.

I guess the WP issues is really an aside to the SG one.

I was pointing out, that with "VA Plat can be had for less", that $3300 (let alone $6700) i

Are you sure you mean a max bundle?

is it worth that much ???
just buy the tickets you want and use points to upgrade and get the benefits anyway

$2800 return with EK F class, with a QF flight number (booked on the QF website) SYD to AKL or SYD to CHC, is that a worthhile spend (to attain PS), or retain SG?
If booked from ADL to SYD, connecting to EK in SYD to AKL/CHC... its a bit more...
140 SC earnt per one way, 280 SC run return, plus 40 SC each way J from ADL to SYD.
Not that I have $ for that, but just presuppose.
