Best seats economy A380?

My brother and most of the other people around him at the back on QF93 last Tuesday had rows to themselves on the lower deck.

I flew QF9 in October and I was the only PAX at the back of the lower deck. A FA told me there was 180 PAX and F, J were full, so 102 PAX in Y and PE!!!

I'm flying economy on QF 1 in November and am trying to decide what seat to select. I am travelling on my own (5 ft 6 woman) and am only a Bronze frequent flyer. As my flight is still a long way off I still have plenty of choices. For $30 I can still select 36 J or K, 48 A or 66 DEF or G . For $180 the following seats are showing as available 35 DEF J or K, 66 ABC or HJK, 71 D and 80 A or K.

I usually prefer an aisle seat as I hate having to ask people to get up so I can move, but I do like to be able to sleep against the window seat if I have an exit row with plenty of leg room and can move without disturbing people.

Given all that, which do you think is the best seat for me? Is it worth paying the extra $150 or would the $30 options listed be the best value?

Serfty, can you explain what you meant by your comment about 48A further back in the thread - I don't know what cowling means?

Thanks for the opinions.

66D is an excellent seat plenty of legroom and if it can be had for only $30.00 it would be my choice. DO NOT take 66G as it is directly in front of the crew rest area entrance and noise and light is a pain. 66E and F will require climbing over people. 48A is too close to the galley and the floor is often very cold in that position. Upstairs is nice however 36J or K will see you needing to climb or be climbed over and with virtually no overhead space so need to be in early and have your carry on above some one else's seat.

The other seats at $180.00 my recommendation if you want to spend that money would be 80A or K. 35 DEF Good seats however people can pass through that area and feet are often subject o being trodden on or kicked.

Hope that helped you. :D

Son had 66A a couple of months ago on the A380. He is around 6ft and said he had plenty of leg room as well as being able to rest against the window. He also likes the aisle as he doesn't like disturbing people, but he felt 66A worked well. He has had 66K before and that is not good because of disturbance from crew rest area.

needing to book a flight for my mum, and i can see 71D open on expertflyer, and yet the other 'good' seats such as 80A/K are already snapped up. I would've thought 71D would've been first to go.

basically I don't want to book that particular flight if 71D isn't actually open - is there any other way to check?

We flew LAZ in 36 J& K and back in 66 D& E all good seats, however upstairs is much quieter than the lower deck.

I'd take 80A/K over 71D any day of the week, with 71D you'll still have 71E walking past whereas with 80A/K you can just walk straight out of your seat and you'll also have no one walking past you. Also window :) hahah

I'm trying to pick seats for my parents, so am exploring parts of the aircraft I never knew existed...

Does anyone have any feedback on how loud the loos are through the walls?
Dad likes to recline as much as possible so I'm thinking 63DE.
This is right in front of the loo. I think there's an enclosure with a raft behind the seat, which might provide some sound insulation. As the side seats continue back to 65, the distance to the actual toilet door and waiting area seems reasonable.
Any thoughts? Would you put your folks here?

If Dad likes to recline as much as possible, 63DE might not be the best choice....Seatguru notes 'may have limited recline'.
Assume due to the toilet wall behind....

I'm pretty sure it's not limited recline. AFAIK no QF seats have limited recline, seatguru just lists some standard warnings based on location. It's just the noise I'm worried about.

Unless 80B/J prefer to annoy you instead of their partner when they get up?

I'd kindly point to the aisle and say exit is that way. I find it pretty awkward to get out via 80A/K from 80B/J. Sure it's a gap but the gap to get in and out is pretty coughbersome IMO due to the exit bump and will involve annoying 2 people (79B/J as well, especially if they're legs are spread out as well). An entrance or exit that way will definitely cause 79B to get bumped. That gap is really just suited to put your feet and maybe a bag for quick access.

A couple (boyfriend/girlfriend?) were sitting next to me in 80HJ and she got up about 4-5 times and each time she got out my side. All I had to do was put the screen away but it was an inconvenience.

And you can see half the seat in front and the hand/body movements of the couple in front. Not a nice thing to be looking at on a flight.

By the way not saying it is a bad seat just you get some creepy people around you.

Is there a row 80?!!!
Could you not get a window ?

Okay, clearly a flight where that's an issue, but same could be said for 71D couldn't it, even more so as you can then see into the seats across the aisle? These things are very situation dependent though.

Yes there's a row 80 and two of the best Y seats on QF's A380 are in it! 80A/K are window seats.

What?

The QF A380 has 2 windows seats in 80A & 80K. They are somewhat coveted, not for the window, but for the lack of a 79A or a 79K in front.

Absolutely as explained by the 2 posters above.

Normally I do not like window seat in economy but this is a special economy window seat and I have even been thinking of flying SYD-DXB-BKK just for the opportunity to experience it again. ;)
