Best Way from BKK airport to Sukhumvit

Sorry to hear and yes it’s annoying.
The scams are precisely where I use Grab everywhere in BKK and other Asian cities. Easy platform to use on your phone and cost is fixed.
I've been using Bolt where necessary in Pattaya.

I wanted to go from Pattaya to Green Valley golf resort. About 30 minutes away. Booked Bolt and went downstairs. Someone had accepted job. They were nearby but took a long time to come. When they arrived they had no idea where I was going. When I told them they said too far. Why accept the job? Then he wouldn't cancel. Wanted me to cancel.

Booked again. They accepted but then I saw them going opposite direction but did not cancel job. Very poor.

I almost gave up but tried one more time. Youngish sort of bloke and took me there without fuss.

Had similar problems returning after golf. Language is one barrier I guess. Greed is another.

Sounds just like Ola at Melbourne Airport. 🤣

I don't mind the AOT option. Paying for the convenience.
About 1200B vs 500B (and tolls, and heaving my %^&* down levels and queuing and having cash ready and thai directions and...).
Can also pay with CC in the hall while waiting for luggage.
Minimum is usually a Camry with its cavernous boot or 4-runner SUV.
Give the paper chit to the desk when you exit, and someone will take your bags to a waiting car.
In saying all this, I usually get a taxi or grab to airport from the hotel.
There is a grab option from the airport but not sure where the grab area is.
I am about to fly into Bangkok for the first time and this post caught my eye, what does AOT mean exactly please. Cheers

Agree. Once in bangkok use grab or whatever else. It might mean waiting a few more minutes than getting a taxi, but the stress is reduced by 100%. Fixed pricing and decent cars.

Ill be in BKK twice later in the year and will need return transport twice into "the city" (hotel not selected yet).

I was wondering what the standard of the GRAB car would be like. Comments would be appreciated

I used one in KUL it was very cheap. But it was filthy, stank, no seat belts and the boot was filled with Chicken poop.

I used a couple in Singapore and they were fantastic.

They were good for my recent trip to BKK. To the city and back to the airport and one or two short-ish trips while in the city.

In Malaysia you have to choose the slightly more expensive option in order to guarantee a decent car. Else it can be a coughpy taxi or a coughpy other car. The slightly more expensive option is not a 100% guarantee but it works most of the time.

I used a couple in Singapore and they were fantastic.

In SIN you don't.

Taxi or Grab, too easy. One "marker" to see if you are being ripped off by the taxi driver, the second mosque you pass is around the 18.6 - 18.9 km mark from the airport. I have on rare occasions, been ripped off by drivers, but for over 75 trips there, I don't think the batting ave is too bad; but one driver I was with was already showing 32km at my mosque marker.

Grab drivers in BKK are always courteous in my experience and even help with loading and unloading luggage. Don't know why anyone would bother with taxis anymore.

Fixed price transfers booked via Klook are also very good value.

I have been lucky I guess; with 20 or so uses over the last 12 months in Kuala Lumpur car condition has varied from reasonable to excellent.

Agree fixed price transfers are great value. However the thing that gets me is the pick up location! AOT has the advantage of being right outside the terminal exit, so you maybe walk 10 metres from air con building to air con car. I got a transfer once where we had to walk all the way to the car park… soaked by the humidity in the process :(

Taxis are also convenient, but the wait can be a few minutes, again out in the heat.

I’ve succumbed to paying the extra 15 bucks or so to avoid that.

Never had an issue in KL with condition or cleanliness of vehicle but I’ve had a couple turn up at the hotel with tiny cars despite me requesting a larger vehicle with room luggage

After the previous issue with the Hotel doorman at my regular Hotel (Four Points) stating it was a fixed fare to the airport (BKK), the next stay there (April / May 2023) I was asked twice if I wanted the meter....
I can not recall what the meter fare was but it was below 400 Baht.

In November I stayed final night at the Westin and was actually handed a card with Airport details, driver details etc. as they do at Sheraton Grande across the road but what I found interesting is that printed on it was that a Taxi from the Hotel is 400 Baht (Fixed) or by meter plus tolls.
For convenience I accepted the 400 and we only went through one toll way and at the airport the driver waited for a tip.

Making me think the fixed fare issue with Taxi drivers in Bangkok is getting worse..

We had issues like this with Uber in India in 2019. Drivers couldn't see the destination until they accepted the ride so they would either ring you up first and ask where you were going or they would accept the job then ring up and ask you to cancel if they weren't happy with the destination. It was a bit frustrating. To save time if they asked me to cancel I would just do it then report them to Uber through the app to get the fee refunded. But we only had issues when booking larger cars to and from train stations/airports when we had luggage with us. We found it excellent for short rides around town in autorickshaws - so much easier than having to haggle them down from crazy prices each and every time. I think we tried another one too, possibly Ola but I can't remember.

Sorry cannot comment on BKK, only flown through there in transit. Although have entered via DMK when it was still called BKK but that was many moons ago.

Hi All,

What is the Best way for two pax with 2 large suitcases to get from BKK airport to our hotel in the city. Taxi ? Uber ? Limo ?. Any advice appreciated.
airport taxi is the quickest and easiest. just get a ticket and from the machine and go to the corresponding cab. very rarely a queue and if there is it moves fast. the meter will be 'broken' but tell them 400 baht including tolls which is about right

even with the meter its 400thb. I think it just helps the driver earn cash by not using it.

if unsure of what the fare should be check on the grab app then tell the driver thats how much you are prepared to pay
