Birds of a feather

Your lovely flamingo pictures reminded me of mine at Galapagos - and all those other ones.

On Santa Cruz island we went for a guided walk and were promised flamingos on an inland lagoon. Here is the flock:

Yes, just one, single, solitary flamingo. I think it was the 'emergency' one, so, if tourists arrive and there's no birds, they hit a button and this one pops up from the water. Actually, it did perform a bit :)

Elsewhere on Santa Cruz, more coughies:

An egret, I think

I do love those blue footed coughies. This thread is so nice - no C word and nobody snarking at each other

Indeed VPS.. the list seems to have lost it's way a bit and threads like this remind us that the world and it's creatures is a beautiful place

By way of explanation.. the baboon was socially well adjusted and spent his (or her) time trying to rip the two way aerial out of the bonnet.. while everyone gathered around taking pics.
We went to Lake Nukuru to see a pink ? blue? white ? black? Rhino .. gee I dunno.. it was along time ago...
We were actually not permitted to go where we went and a very officious local ranger cut us off in mid drive.
The conversation between Tristan Voorspuy and the very sure and officious local ranger was hugely entertaining.
White bwana meets the educated African..riveting stuff
Tristan won his way and we continued on.. but he confessed somewhat ruefully that he would have some homework to do

There's a wildlife refuge nearby to my current residence. Signs everywhere saying not to feed the wildlife, but whenever a car pulls up there's always a gaggle of geese that waddle over to meet you... so I think there's a lot of rule breakers. While there over the weekend I got this lovely snap of an Australian Pelican, cropped to remove distractions. Taken on a Canon EOS R6 w/ RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens at the full 500mm, f/7.1, 320 ISO, 1/1250s. It was a bright day.

I originally uploaded, but the compression on AFF didn't do the photo justice, hence why I have chosen Flickr instead.
