Listing my interest in catching up, but unfortunately I am possibly going to be in SIN that week.

SIN / SYD same same, but different...

Alas, unfortunately I won't make it to this drinks.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow, details are still as above. Shy newcomers, I'm really looking forward to seeing your boarding passes & funny handshakes ;)...
And seeing how creative we can all get with trying to hit our Amex ShopSmall targets ;)

Sorry I won't be able to come even though I've taken the day off work as I've a stye in my eye...

It probably would be the first group where I could do "Nanu Nanu" as a handshake and someone would get it.

On my way but stopping over at home on the way in. Should be there ~8:15pm if anyone still around.

Typical AFF event. We broke the eftpos machine, but I managed my shop small in the first round! I think they must have banned AMEX! Nice to meet new AFFers and reacquaint with familiar faces from previous events! Thanks for an entertaining night gang.

Indeed - a great night, made better by a free drink when EFTPOS died :) Great to finally be able to put some faces to some names.

Thanks to Storyteller for organising!

I think the names and handles did get etched into the grey matter this time. Highlights were $7.50 pints of Guinness. Plus 2 4 1 meals for those that ate. Awesome to meet you all.

Great to meet everyone. We really did pack into a small space; hope everyone had a great time. Shop Small plus 2-4-1 meals was a winner (the steak sandwich was nice, though maybe a tad too sweet for my liking; the onion rings were pretty good but wow that chilli BBQ sauce...)

Thanks to our international guests for joining us and hope they got a bit of Aussie pub experience into them (eh, who am I kidding, this is no Australian pub, it's an Irish one :p). Thanks also to Storyteller for organising the night.

Great evening, thanks everyone who attended & even those who were a maybe ;). Special thanks to the new attendees. There was a good handshake, & a great Boarding Pass (just in case it was needed). EY F too!!

Will try to get all the names, but if I leave any out, let me know & I'll add later..

Katie & I had fun trying to get up to $20 spend to do the ShopSmall thing.
Tuesday is their 2 4 1 night. We both fancied meals that were under $20 unfortunately! So. Most expensive was $19.90. Lady taking the orders couldn't just take it up $0.10 as all things are itemised. She couldn't see why we wanted her to charge us more, or why we were almost disappointed about 1/2 price meals! We looked at sides, desserts but none were winking at us, so tried to buy a LL&B but she couldn't sell drinks, only food. Finally she suggested a fake side of aoli, to keep her register happy, but would only ring it up to total $20. We did warn her that there could be another few similarly strange orders... Later I noticed a sign saying the eftpos was down..

Mick O'Malley's made great signs to keep the whole The Library area (plus pool table ) reserved for us. Worked well :)

At these events do you actually discuss peoples airline, hotel etc questions like you do in threads or is it more of a social catch up eg discuss work family etc not that I expect there's any restriction on topics but just curious.

Conversation is always pretty easy, as the thing we have in common is the travel. At these events, you can walk up to a stranger in the group and start talking travel eg which airline do you prefer to fly to NZ?
As it is a fluid group situation with people moving around from group to group, the topics tend to keep moving as well.

Whether I have met someone many times or not, I may still only talk miles & points & travel. With someone else, we/I'll mention things closer to home. But it always goes back to the main thing that we're all a bit OCD about..

So, yes, the conversation can be like the threads. If you have a burning question, or something has happened, and you want opinions on how the hotel / airline handled it, then this is great time to ask. The spoken word, and in person, is rarely misunderstood, not like the written word can be!

I always come away having learnt several new things at least, & other fine tuning on what I thought I knew. The programmes are constantly changing, and we all have different travel patterns & destinations, so the knowledge is always changing.

Hope this helps NZflygirl :)

Thanks for organizing storyteller.

I took a few rushed photos, just to prove that some people showed up, but they won't show up on the forum, and I might show some of you a copy when you are remembering when storyteller organized that great event in Brisbane in 2016.

I look forward to next weeks event when Boomy and trippin are in town.

Should I start a new thread.

A new thread keeps it easy to spot, and starts a whole new conversation..
